Arrive in vibrant Sydney, where you are met and transferred to your luxurious hotel in the city’s historic Rocks area. Enjoy a welcome drink with your A&K Resident Tour Director before dinner at The Four Season’s Pei Modern Restaurant.

DAY 2:
Sydney | Visit a Zoo with a View

Travel by ferry to the Taronga Zoo and step aboard Taronga’s sky safari cable car for fantastic views of Sydney Harbour and the city skyline. Visit exhibits of kangaroos, koalas, wombats, dingoes, echidnas and Australian birds, led by an expert guide. Explore on your own, before departing for lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a tour of the city sights, such as the Circular Quay, the Royal Botanic Garden, Hyde Park and Chinatown.

DAY 3:
Sydney | Surfing Lesson & Jet-Boat Experience

Head out for a day of sun, sand and surf, starting with a private group surfing lesson at Bondi Beach, and learn about the famous Bondi Beach Lifesavers. Eat lunch like a local at one of the area’s favorite restaurants. Next, transfer to Circular Quay’s Eastern Pontoon for an awesome jet-boat experience. Circle Sydney Harbour, enjoying the stunning sights along the shore and having fun doing spins, slides and fishtails as you go. Return to your hotel for an afternoon at leisure. Tonight, dine at a local restaurant.

DAY 4:
Uluru | Sacred Rock of the Aborigines

Fly into the vast Outback of central Australia to your spacious accommodations near mystical Uluru (Ayers Rock), the 600-million-year-old sandstone monolith held sacred by Australia’s Aboriginal people. After some time at leisure to relax and perhaps enjoy a dip in the pool, tour Uluru, walking beside the base of the red-colored marvel and viewing rock art of the ancients. Enjoy canapés and sparkling wine (or a soft drink) as you watch the sunset over Uluru. Return to your hotel for dinner.

DAY 5:
Kata Tjuta | Ride a Camel Through Red Sand Dunes

Rise early and journey through the desert landscape of Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park to view a formation of stone domes also called the Olgas. After lunch at leisure, attend a dot-painting workshop, joined by indigenous artists, and create a keepsake to take home. Then, climb aboard a friendly camel for a sunset ride through the red sand dunes, with inspiring Uluru in the background. Later, sample a selection of local Outback foods, such as freshly baked damper (bread).

DAY 6:
Uluru/Port Douglas | Outback Survival Lesson

This morning, hear captivating yarns about survival in the Outback told by an indigenous storyteller. Learn about traditional bushtucker (food sourced in the bush) and the Aboriginal “survival kit,” including hunting spears and boomerangs. Enjoy lunch at leisure before flying to Cairns. Once there, drive along the scenic South Pacific coast en route to Port Douglas, and settle into your secluded beachfront hotel.

DAY 7:
Port Douglas | Snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef

Head out from the marina for a full day of snorkeling in the idyllic Low Isles of the magnificent Great Barrier Reef. Explore a dazzling and colorful array of corals and fish, and learn the history of this fragile marine environment. Enjoy a tropical buffet lunch as well as morning and afternoon teas. Return to your hotel for a delightful Outback Aussie dinner.

DAY 8:
Port Douglas | Aboriginal Walkabout Experience

Join a member of the Kuku Yalanji people — your Young Explorers Guide — for a tour of their ancestral country around Daintree on a revealing Aboriginal walkabout experience. Walk through rainforest and coastal habitats, learn about cultural traditions and medicines derived from nature, sample some bushtucker and try your hand at spear throwing. Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
