About Abercrombie & Kent
Abercrombie & Kent began 60 years ago on the plains of Africa, where Geoffrey Kent and his parents, Valerie and Colonel John Kent, pioneered a new style of luxury adventure travel. From our first journeys in 1962, A&K grew into a globe-spanning network of companies, opening destinations previously inaccessible to visitors and establishing a new benchmark for experiential travel.
Today, we are the world’s premier luxury travel company, with an unrivaled legacy of creating memorable, inspiring adventures in more than 100 countries on all seven continents. Our approach combines singular service, authentic local expertise and beyond-the-guidebook insider access, all of which come together to create a journey of a lifetime, every time you travel with us.
Unparalleled Global Reach
A&K has over 55 offices in more than 30 countries, a global family consisting of more than 2,500 dedicated travel experts. Chief among them is the Resident Tour Director® who leads each group departure, providing unmatched on-the-ground expertise with A&K local guides contributing along the way. We offer everything from inspiring small-group journeys to Luxury Tailor Made Travel, Luxury Expedition Cruises and Private Jet journeys, and we are consistently recognized as the gold standard for luxury travel by professionals and guests alike.
With incomparable expertise and a passion for authentic discovery, Abercrombie & Kent reveals every destination from a true local perspective — and with a level of style and service beyond the reach of any other travel company.
Geoffrey Kent, Founder and Co-Chairman
Geoffrey Kent was born on safari and grew up on his family’s farm in Kenya. At 16, he became the first individual to motorbike between Kenya and Cape Town. After serving in the British Army, Geoffrey returned to Kenya and established Abercrombie & Kent with his parents, building it over the years into the world’s premier luxury travel company.
Geoffrey was a founding member of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), serving as Chairman for six years. In 2021 he was awarded the WTTC Global Icon Award and named an Honorary Member. He was named to the British Travel and Hospitality Industry Hall of Fame in 2012 for inventing the concept of experiential travel by bringing the same sense of adventure found on safari to destinations around the world. He continues to travel the world interviewing guides, scouting locations and ensuring that the standards he and his parents established 60 years ago remain in place on each and every A&K journey.
