About Abercrombie & Kent
Abercrombie & Kent began on the plains of Africa, where Geoffrey Kent and his parents, Valerie and Colonel John Kent, pioneered a new style of luxury adventure travel in 1962. From modest beginnings, A&K grew into a globe-spanning network of companies, opening destinations previously inaccessible to visitors and establishing a new benchmark for experiential travel.
Today, we are the world’s premier luxury travel company, with an unrivaled legacy of creating memorable, inspiring adventures in more than 100 countries on all seven continents. Our approach combines singular service, authentic local expertise and beyond-the-guidebook insider access, all of which come together to create a journey of a lifetime, every time you travel with us.
A&K has over 55 offices in more than 30 countries, a global family consisting of more than 2,500 dedicated travel experts. Chief among them are the Resident Tour Directors® who lead each group departure, providing unmatched on-the-ground expertise with A&K local guides contributing along the way. We offer everything from inspiring small-group journeys to Luxury Tailor Made Travel, Luxury Expedition Cruises and Private Jet journeys, and we are consistently recognized as the gold standard for luxury travel by professionals and guests alike.
Philanthropy has been an integral part of Abercrombie & Kent since our founding, and as A&K has expanded across the globe, our commitment to philanthropy has grown with us. Today, Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy (AKP) partners with more than 40 local grassroots projects that positively impact lives and livelihoods in the communities where our guests travel. Geoffrey Kent: A Pioneer and Visionary
Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Geoffrey Kent was born on safari and grew up on his family’s farm in Kenya. At 16, he became the first individual to motorbike between Kenya and Cape Town. After serving in the British Army, Geoffrey returned to Kenya and established Abercrombie & Kent with his parents, building it over the years into the world’s premier luxury travel company.
Geoffrey has served as chairman of the World Travel & Tourism Council, and in April 2012 was named to the British Travel and Hospitality Industry Hall of Fame for inventing the concept of experiential travel by bringing the same sense of adventure found on safari to destinations around the world. He continues to travel the world interviewing guides, scouting locations and ensuring that the standards he and his parents established nearly 60 years ago remain in place on each and every A&K journey.
Safari: Memoir of a Worldwide Travel Pioneer
