Guayaquil | Historic Port City
After breakfast, drive to the picturesque countryside and the Hacienda La Danesa, a family-owned dairy and cacao farm with over 145 years of rich heritage. All ages enjoy a plantation visit that reveals the traditional process of growing and harvesting cacao. During this Family Foodie Experience, you also enjoy the opportunity to taste raw cacao at different ripening stages and participate in making Ecuadorian chocolate. After an organic lunch at the farm, return to your hotel. Tonight, gather for a welcome dinner.
The Galápagos | Setting Sail on ‘La Pinta’
Fly to Baltra, among the volcanic islands of the Galápagos archipelago. Upon arrival, your family is met by a naturalist guide who escorts you to ‘La Pinta,’ your vessel for your exciting six-night voyage through the Galápagos’ Western Islands. ‘La Pinta’ is built for both adventure and comfort, complete with spacious cabins and a relaxed atmosphere. She is also equipped with pangas (rubber rafts), a glass-bottom boat, and sea kayaks, all of which allow for more intimate and independent exploration. After lunch, attend an introductory briefing on your ship as well as wetsuit and snorkeling gear fittings for the whole family.
The Galápagos | Otherworldly Wildlife
A wildlife haven 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador, the Galápagos Islands are home to some of the world’s most remarkable and varied wildlife. Because weather, water and wildlife conditions are subject to constant change, your itinerary is flexible and not fixed. Each cruise day is designed with families in mind, offering everything from an early breakfast with healthy menu choices to twice-daily excursions that reveal the magic of these unique islands at just the right pace for young explorers.
Joined by a knowledgeable naturalist guide, each excursion begins aboard a panga that takes you to shore and into a world of natural wonder, where sunbathing sea lions and their barking babies, skittering Sally Lightfoot crabs and tangles of marine iguanas greet your family. The Galápagos are also home to a spectacular assortment of seabirds that elevate birdwatching to a new level of excitement: Picture endemic Galápagos penguins swimming in the shade of a mangrove forest, or iconic blue-footed boobies tending to nests on the very trails upon which you walk. Explore alongside your guide, who leads you on family-friendly hikes, swims and even into the misty highlands to walk amid centuries-old tortoises.
Return to ‘La Pinta’ for a refreshing lunch, followed by time at leisure to nap or socialize on deck. In the afternoon, set out for a second excursion, perhaps with an opportunity to kayak or snorkel. Back on board ‘La Pinta’ for the evening, your Resident Tour Director and naturalist guides continue engaging young guests with scavenger hunts, language lessons and special parties. In the evenings, gather for a lecture led by your team of naturalist guides who share insight about the next day’s adventures. Beautifully prepared meals in the dining room may be followed by awe-inspiring astronomy talks out on deck, where you witness a show of bright stars that nearly touch the horizon. Once the young ones are asleep, gather for cocktails in the lounge to cap a day of extraordinary discoveries.
Puerto Ayora | Disembark & Farewell Dinner
After a leisurely breakfast, disembark your cruise on Santa Cruz island, and then transfer to Finch Bay on Santa Cruz, the island’s only beachfront hotel. Relax as a family by the freshwater pool and explore the adjacent beach. Tonight, celebrate an unforgettable voyage at a special farewell dinner.
