Arrive Moscow, Russia

Arrive in Moscow, where you are met by your Guardian Angel and transferred to your luxurious accommodations at the Metropol Hotel. The balance of the day is spent at your leisure.

Moscow | Icons of an Enduring Legacy

Begin your full-day tour of Moscow with a visit to Red Square, where you admire Lenin's Tomb and the colorful onion domes of St. Basil's cathedral. Next, visit the GUM shopping mall, a historic promenade enclosed in spectacular glass archways. Continue on to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Completely destroyed in the days of Stalin, the structure was restored to its original glory in 1990. Next, visit the Novodevichy Convent and Cemetery, the final resting place of Nikita Khrushchev, Raisa Gorbachev and Boris Yeltsin. Tour the observation platform at Sparrow Hills, then enjoy lunch at your leisure. Continue your afternoon with exclusive backstage access on a private, guided tour of the world-famous Bolshoi Theater. Visit areas closed to the public and perhaps even catch a glimpse of the dancers as they warm up. You can extend your visit into the evening if you wish, taking in a performance at the theater (additional costs apply).

Day 3
Moscow | Treasures of the Kremlin

Set out on a half-day, guided tour exploring a treasure trove of Russian history at the Kremlin. Begin with a visit to the State Armory, home to a vast collection of precious stones, jewelry and other priceless artifacts dating as far back as the 14th century. Peruse an impressive selection of fine carriages, ornate royal clothing and Fabergé eggs. Your tour also includes the cathedral of coronations and the royal burial church. Enjoy lunch and an afternoon at leisure to do some shopping or explore on your own.

Day 4

Enjoy some time to relax this morning, and then begin the next leg of the journey as you transfer via luxury private vehicle to Moscow railway station. Here you are assisted with your luggage and shown to your reserved, business-class seats. Sit back, relax and enjoy a light meal on board. Arrive refreshed at the railway station in St. Petersburg, where you are greeted by an A&K representative, assisted with your luggage and escorted to your awaiting private vehicle. Day 5
St. Petersburg | A City of Faith

Enjoy a full-day, guided tour of the wonders of St. Petersburg, beginning with a visit to the Peter and Paul Fortress, a vast island citadel built in 1703 to provide protection from the Swedes. Make a stop at the Fortress Cathedral, the final resting place of several tsars such as Peter the Great. Visit St. Isaac's Cathedral to learn more about the cathedral’s massive granite columns, vast mosaics and the gilded dome that dominates the city’s skyline. After some time for lunch at leisure, get a close look at some of Russia’s most treasured masterpieces with a private tour of the Fabergé Museum. In addition to housing one of the most valuable collections of Fabergé eggs and objets d'art in the world, the museum strives to repatriate Russian masterpieces previously sold off by the Bolsheviks.

Day 6
St. Petersburg | Masterworks of the Hermitage

Today, you experience the world-renowned Hermitage, a massive museum campus spanning six buildings and housing over three million works of art. Begin your tour of the campus at the lavish former home of the tsars, the Winter Palace. This rococo masterpiece commissioned by Catherine the Great came to house the greatest collection of art in Europe before it was bombed in World War II and subsequently restored in 1945. Pause for afternoon tea at the home of celebrated local artist, Yuri Petrochenkov. You are welcome to browse his private collection of portraits, icons, antique furniture and exquisite porcelain eggs.

Day 7
St. Petersburg | In the Footsteps of Royalty

Head south of the city for a private, guided tour of Tsarskoe Selo (Tsar's Village), a former royal country estate much enjoyed by Catherine the Great and her daughter, Empress Elizabeth. Set among landscaped parkland, the village is home to the magnificent baroque Catherine Palace and its dazzling Amber Room, a chamber of opaque panels framed by gold leaf and mirrors. Other architectural highlights of the grounds include the exquisitely detailed Hermitage Pavilion and the neoclassical Alexander Palace, the favored residence of Tsar Nicholas II. Return to the city for lunch at your leisure.
