Transfer to ‘Roi Soleil,’ moored near Béziers. You are welcomed on board with cocktails and dinner as the barge cruises on the canal to Villeneuve.
‘Roi Soleil’ passes through the great staircase of locks at Fonserannes. Today, you may explore Pézanes, known for its architecture and antique shops; Roquebrun, a picturesque village that clings to the hills above the River Orb; or l’Oppidum d’Ensérune, a pre-Roman archaeological site. You could also return to Béziers, the center of the wine trade in southern France, for a wine tasting at a top vineyard that is a supplier to Michelin-starred chefs.
Cruise to the historic village of Capestang, where you may privately visit the 11th-century Cistercian Abbaye de Fontroide, one of the most complete remaining abbey complexes in Europe, and enjoy a wine tasting at Corbières Château. Alternatively, you may stop at a ranch known for its bulls and horses.
Enjoy an excursion to charming Narbonne today. Once a Roman capital, the town is home to a famous archaeological museum within the Bishop's Palace, as well as a modern-day food market. The barge then cruises to the tranquil country village of Le Somail.
Visit the hill village of Minerve, with a dramatic history dating from the Crusades. Alternatively, stop at a prized olive oil mill at Oulibo and a Languedoc village. Later in the day, cruise to Roubia.
Pass through many locks on the morning cruise to Homps. Explore Carcassonne, Europe’s largest medieval fortress, or the village of Lagrasse, known for its many artisans. Tonight's farewell dinner celebrates a wonderful week on board.
