January 16, 2024
Abercrombie & Kent is launching a new Private Jet journey in 2025 that explores the wonders of the vast continent of Africa on one epic 23-day adventure. The luxury travel provider, which first introduced photographic safaris in Africa more than 60 years ago, has curated an innovative itinerary spanning seven countries, including, for the first time on an A&K Private Jet journey, Tunisia. On Africa: Across A Continent by Private Jet (Feb 4-26, 2025), guests will discover Tunisia’s magnificent Roman ruins at Carthage and Dougga, as well as explore the winelands of South Africa, the vanishing mountain gorillas of Rwanda and abundant Big Five of Kenya and Botswana; then learn about the ancient traditions of Benin and end with the bustling medina of Marrakech.
“Travellers look to A&K for the quintessential African journey, as well as intriguing destinations they may never have thought to visit,” explains Ann Epting, Senior Vice President, Private Jet & Special Interest Travel. “Africa: Across A Continent by Private Jet is an immersive itinerary that features a brand new destination, Tunisia, home to the most well-preserved Roman sites on the continent. I’m also excited to introduce guests to Benin, where they’ll discover a village on water often referred to as the Venice of West Africa, in addition to delivering some of our guests’ most beloved safari experiences in Rwanda, Kenya and Botswana, camping under the stars in Morocco’s Sahara Desert and more.”
This A&K Private Jet Journey is an artfully orchestrated sequence of inspiring destinations and once-in-a-lifetime experiences made possible through the flexibility of private air — as well as A&K’s unrivaled local presence and expertise in Africa, with offices in 10 countries throughout the continent. A small group of 48 like-minded guests travel on an all-inclusive itinerary packed with insider access, fine dining and astonishing wildlife viewing. Jet from one destination to the next with a staff of expert Tour Managers, a Luggage Manager, a professional photographer and a dedicated flight crew, ending each day in accommodations chosen for their comfort, hospitality and true local character.
- Tunisia: Explore the ancient alleyways of the old medina of Tunis and the ruins of ancient Carthage, including its Antonine Baths and reconstructed Roman-era theater.
- Kenya: Spend three days in the heart of the Masai Mara, observing the Big Five, visit a local Maasai village and community school, and in Nairobi meet rescued animals during a private visit to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (where A&K will adopt an elephant on behalf of guests).
- Rwanda: Come face to face with the endangered mountain gorillas and learn about conservation efforts during a talk with a Gorilla Doctor and a visit to the Dian Fossey Research Center, then enjoy a private visit to the Iby’iwacu Cultural Center for an in depth immersion into traditional local culture.
- Botswana: Search for wildlife in Chobe National Park by land and by water and relax on a sunset cruise on the Chobe River, where there are more elephants than anywhere else in Africa.
- South Africa: Begin with a visit to neighboring Victoria Falls and end with a relaxing evening at the Cape Grace Hotel overlooking the harbor. Explore the wine regions of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, enjoying lunch at one of the few Black women-owned wineries in the world.
- Benin: Learn the secrets of African Vodoun at an authentic private ceremony, then explore a village referred to as the “Venice of West Africa.”
- Morocco: Stargaze into the vast desert skies above the Sahara Desert during an unforgettable night at the secluded A&K Private Desert Camp, complete with a traditional performance by Gnaoua tribesmen, then explore the museums, markets and gardens of Marrakech.
Guests may personalize their journey with a choice of Design Your Day® activities, including active outdoor excursions, enriching cultural encounters and relaxing wellness experiences. In Tunisia, guests may choose to visit Sidi Bou Said to walk its cobbled streets and view its distinctive blue and white houses, explore the Bustling Souks of Tunis, journey to the Roman City of Dougga, or enjoy a day of leisure at the hotel with a spa treatment or a round of golf.
Accommodations embody the authentic hospitality and character of each locale, and in many cases are reserved exclusively for A&K guests, such as the Angama Mara overlooking Kenya’s Masai Mara, One&Only Gorilla’s Nest and Singita Kwitonda Lodge in the heart of Rwanda’s Volcanoes National, as well as Chobe Game Lodge on the banks of Botswana’s Chobe River. This epic journey concludes at The Oberoi, Marrakech, one of the top-rated resorts in North Africa.
Coordinating the journey is a knowledgeable Tour Director chosen from the ranks of A&K’s international coterie of professionals, who orchestrates everything from start to finish, relying on a lifetime’s worth of experience. A team of exceptional Tour Managers guarantee seamless service, while expert local guides share sights only locals know. A&K’s mid-journey laundry service, Traveller’s Valet®, allows guests to keep luggage light, while Travelling Bell Boy® service ensures luggage is collected from each hotel room and is waiting at the next hotel.
