Pure Amazon takes you deep into Peru’s Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, known for its incredible biodiversity, including some of the most iconic and endangered species on earth: pink river dolphins, manatees, turtles, black caimans, capybaras, tapirs, saddle-backed tamarins, black-capped squirrel monkeys, herons and hummingbirds.

Pure Amazon operates year-round with two distinct seasons, meaning there is never a bad time to visit. June to November is low-water season, ideal for birdwatchers and wildlife lovers seeking rare and iconic species. December to May is high-water season, when the Amazon River and tributaries flood, submerging most of the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve and opening enchanting alternative perspectives on the landscape.

All meals, non-alcoholic beverages, house wines and international and local spirits, return transfers from/to Uyuni Airport, privately guided excursions across the core programme, a dedicated private guide and driver, boots and ponchos in the wet season, and local reserve fees are included.

Samkani Camp has five suites, accommodating up to 10 guests.

There’s no bad time to visit the surreal landscape of the Salar de Uyuni as visitors have the chance to explore, capture stunning photographs and soak up sublime stargazing year round. The rainy season (December-March) is when many visitors come to see the spectacular mirror effect as the salt flats become a giant reflective canvas. During the dry season (April to November), the flats become a vast puzzle of hexagonal salt polygons; and clear skies, mild temperatures and easy travel conditions make for prime exploration. Samkani Camp is open all year.
