Luxury Vacations to Australia's East Coast
Sometimes you’ve got to pick a side. In the case of Australia, you’ve got to pick both sides. But start with the East.
The 1,600 miles from Port Douglas to Sydney are among the most captivating on Earth. With some of the best surfing, some of the best food and wine, and many of the cutest marsupials. Near the top is the world’s oldest rainforest, the Daintree, which merges with the planet’s most biodiverse marine environment, the Great Barrier Reef. Further south, the electric blue and blinding white freakout of K’Gari and the Whitsundays. Then the modern miracle that is Sydney itself. At which point – let’s be original – make a sharp turn, 500 miles out to sea, to Lord Howe Island. It’s been there, slowly dissolving, for nearly seven million years, though it was only granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 1982. It’s one of the few places to have left Sir David Attenborough – seldom short of a breathy soundbite – speechless. See what you think.
