Luxury Vacations in Panama
Panama has always been an in-between place, a place of passage, first connecting continents then later joining oceans.
On this luxuriant land-bridge between South and Central America, wildlife flourishes: howler monkeys in Soberanía National Park, hummingbirds in the mists of Cerro Punta, turtles in the shallows of Coiba Island. And it is as rich in heritage as it is in natural beauty. Venture into the misty hills of Chiriquí to sample what some say is the world’s best coffee on the plantations where it is grown. Admire the forts of Portobelo, once flush with the plunder of Spanish ships, now moody, mossy ruins. Panama City is, of course, the gateway to the iconic canal. Today’s modern metropolis radiates from a charismatic old town, Casco Viejo, a maze of cobbled alleys, crumbling facades and the bright swirling skirts of tamborito dancers. To the north, the coconut-littered sands of the San Blas Islands, home to the matrilineal Guna people, and the islands of Bocas del Toro, where tiny, uniquely colored rainbow frogs sing from the trees.
