Roaming, ruling and battling for territory, India’s Royal Bengal tiger is a legendary species, one that sends birds flying from branches as their roar rips out through the jungle.

From comfortable jeeps – blankets on knees and binoculars in hand – visitors are treated to regular sightings of these graceful beasts picking their way through the grass in national parks such as Panna, Pench, Kanha and Bandhavgarh. These reserves are also home to a wonderfully diverse range of animals and birdlife that includes leopard, jackal, sloth bear, chital, gaur and nilgai.
