The rugged red land of Australia’s Northern Territory revolves around Uluru. The largest sandstone monolith in the world, it rose – according to legend – from the bloodshed of tribal battle.

The sacred rock in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park connects the past to the present, and forms part of the psyche of Indigenous Australians, one of the oldest civilizations in the world. Artwork spanning thousands of years has been etched into the lichen-marked monument, depicting a land before time. In the two art galleries of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, these stories are still being told. Like Uluru, the nearby soaring rock domes, Kata Tjuta, are a natural masterpiece, and like Uluru, they are cast in different shades and are best viewed at sunrise and sunset.
