Tarangire National Park | Into the Wild
Spend a full day exploring Tarangire National Park, backdropped by the spectacular, rust-hued Great Rift Valley. At Tarangire, find a stunning concentration of animals — herds of elephants, impalas and zebras — all of which traverse the sprawling plains.
Ngorongoro Crater | Design Your Day
Learn how Africans live today, exploring in and around the village of Mto wa Mbu, as you ride by tuk-tuk, a major form of transport here. See rice fields and a banana plantation, and try banana beer at a local bar. In the village, enjoy a walk through the local market to see the colorful produce on display. Afterward, head to your restful luxury lodge for lunch. Arrive at Gibb’s Farm, on the forested slopes of Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Established as a coffee farm in the 1920s and refurbished as a luxurious boutique inn, Gibb’s Farm offers you the charm of another era. This afternoon, enjoy one of the following Design Your Day activities:
Walk with a Maasai Healer, discovering the uses of over 20 different indigenous plants in the Ngorongoro Forest.
Bicycle the Back Roads of a nearby village to get the feel for life as the locals live it.
Enjoy a Traditional High Tea on the veranda overlooking the gardens and meet the artist-in-residence.
Ngorongoro Crater | Into the “Lost World”
Set out on a full-day game drive in Ngorongoro Crater to explore the panoramic, short-grass prairies along the crater floor — home to rare black rhinos as well as lions, hyenas and gazelles. See colorfully garbed Maasai herdsmen, who call the stunning landscape home. The diverse and profuse wildlife dwelling within the encircling crater walls led this incredible “Lost World” to be named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to your lodge for the remainder of your afternoon at leisure.
Serengeti National Park | Behold the Endless Plains
Fly to Serengeti National Park. The vast Tanzanian landscape hosts one of earth’s last remaining wildlife spectacles: the annual Great Migration, when a staggering number of herbivores trek across the Serengeti plains in search of water and fresh grass — hungry predators awaiting them or following in their wake. Over the next two days, your adventure may reveal giraffes, wildebeest, elephants and much more on morning and afternoon game drives through the boundless Serengeti, home of one of the largest wildlife populations in the world. Keep your camera at the ready for a pack of cheetahs, herd of buffalo or pride of lions. Here, too, reside over 500 species of birds, among them eagles, who glide effortlessly above the sun-soaked landscape.
Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya | Crown Jewel
Fly to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. This afternoon, set out on a game drive that introduces you to the famed reserve, where you find the greatest concentration of species in all of Kenya.
Masai Mara Game Reserve | Maasai Village Visit
Spend the next two days in the Mara, more than 500 square miles of savannas, woodlands and tree-fringed rivers that shelter an astonishing range of wildlife, including 400 bird species and all the great predators. You may also encounter crocodiles, hippos, monkeys, elephants and giraffes. During your time in the Mara, visit a Maasai village and meet with an elder to learn about local culture and traditions. In lieu of a morning game drive, you may opt for a hot air balloon ride across the sprawling Mara, at an additional cost, for an exciting new perspective on wildlife.
Fly back to Nairobi and spend the afternoon at leisure in a comfortable dayroom. In the evening, transfer to the airport for your departing flight.
