DAY 1

DAY 2
Sossusvlei | Namib Desert

Set out on a morning city tour of Windhoek. This afternoon, fly to Sossusvlei and the starkly beautiful Namib Desert, with its dunes, streams and craggy outcrops. Sossusvlei stuns with its bands of amber, copper and vermillion cutting through the arid desert. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure at your desert-situated lodge.

DAY 3
Towering Red Dunes

Experience Sossusvlei, from its clay pan that rarely fills with water to its magnificent terra cotta sand dunes that rise nearly 1,000 feet into the blue sky. Set out early morning to witness it firsthand, embarking on a guided nature drive to dunes through a private gate on the Tsauchab River. Perhaps climb to the top of one of these dunes — among the highest in the world — for an unforgettable view. Later, pause for a sundowner in the vast Namib Desert.

DAY 4
Damaraland | Pristine Huab River Valley

Fly to Damaraland Camp, set within the Huab River Valley, with picturesque views of the surrounding desert plains, ancient valleys and soaring peaks of Brandberg Mountain. Damaraland’s stark plains are offset by ancient valleys and petrified forests, which are some 200 million years old. Rock art dating back hundreds of years can be viewed in the surrounding ravines and caves.

DAY 5
Damaraland | Dramatic Vistas, Open Spaces

Embark on nature drives in search of desert elephants, which have adapted to this harsh region. They tend to roam around the dry riverbed and may be seen standing on their back legs, trying to snatch the very last leaf with their trunks. You may also take a guided walking safari, keeping watch for gemsboks, greater kudus and springboks.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
DAY 6
Damaraland | Twyfelfontein’s Engravings

Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein, which features one of the world’s largest concentrations of petroglyphs (engravings). Note the footprints and petroglyphs of wild animals — rhinos, elephants, giraffes and zebras, thought to be made over a period of 2,000 years by local San hunter-gatherers. They offer fascinating insight into San rituals, economic practices and belief systems.

DAYS 7-8

Take a scenic drive to Kamanjab to the Otjikandero Himba village, home to the last traditional tribe in Namibia. Witness Himba rituals, such as the milking ceremony and smoke bath, and learn about their beliefs regarding holy fire, ancestors and herbal medicine. Continue to the private Ongava Game Reserve bordering Etosha National Park, where you intersect the boundless landscape during fascinating guided walks. Then, discover the reserve differently during night game drives, when hungry predators amble out to hunt.
