Arrive Windhoek, Namibia
Arrive in Windhoek and transfer to your hotel, an intimate boutique property set in the heart of the capital.
Ongava Private Game Reserve | Into the Wild
Following a morning city tour of Windhoek, fly to Ongava Private Game Reserve, an exclusive game-viewing destination bordering Etosha National Park.
Ongava Private Game Reserve | Safari Adventure
Explore the Okaukuejo area of Etosha National Park with a game drive in an open 4x4 safari vehicle, tracking the lions, elephants, cheetahs, gemsbok, springbok and hartebeest that frequent the park’s many watering holes. After nightfall, set out on a nocturnal game drive or walk as the reserve’s predators amble out to hunt.
Damaraland | Tribal Traditions
Take a scenic drive to Kamanjab and the Otjikandero Himba village, home to the last traditional tribe in Namibia. Witness Himba rituals, such as the milking ceremony and smoke bath, and learn about their beliefs regarding holy fire, ancestors and herbal medicine. Continue driving to Damaraland, a striking landscape of stark desert plains offset by amber mountains, seasonal river valleys, petrified forests and caves bearing rock art that dates back hundreds of years.
Damaraland | Echoes of the Past
Embark on nature drives in search of desert elephants, which have adapted to this harsh region. They tend to roam around the dry riverbed and may be seen standing on their back legs, trying to snatch the very last leaf with their trunks. You may also take a guided walking safari, keeping watch for gemsboks, greater kudus and springboks. Later, explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein, home to the world’s largest concentration of petroglyphs. Depicting rhinos, elephants, giraffes, zebras and humans, among others, these images were engraved by local San hunter-gatherers over a period of 2,000 years.
Swakopmund | Bavarian Enclave
This morning, fly to the coastal town of Swakopmund for a day at leisure. This former German colonial town of seaside promenades, half-timbered homes and wind-swept beaches retains much of its Bavarian ambience. Keep a lookout for playful dolphins who frequent the wild Atlantic waters just off the coast.
Sossusvlei | Namib Desert
Fly to Sossusvlei and the starkly beautiful Namib Desert, with its dunes, streams and craggy outcrops. Sossusvlei stuns with its bands of amber, copper and vermillion cutting through the arid desert. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure at your tented camp perched on the doorstep of Namibia's Sand Sea.
Sossusvlei | Towering Red Dunes
Experience Sossusvlei, from its clay pan that rarely fills with water to its magnificent terra cotta sand dunes that rise nearly 1,000 feet into the blue sky. Set out early morning to witness it firsthand, embarking on a guided nature drive to the dunes along the Tsauchab River. Return to camp for an afternoon at leisure.
