Day 1
Arrive Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Arrive in Yogyakarta on the island of Java, where you are met and transferred to the Kraton to behold a colorful architectural design that reflects the Javanese cosmos. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit a traditional batik factory, learning the intricacies of this age-old dyeing technique. Continue to Kotagede, known for its Javanese and colonial-style architecture. Once the seat of the mighty Mataram Empire, the charming neighborhood now brims with artisans. Visit a master baker’s house, where you sample Kembang Waru, a cookie unique to Kotagede. Next, explore the bustling central market, and the visit the oldest mosque in Yogyakarta, where you don Javanese attire out of respect for former kings. Finally, visit the Royal Cemetery, where the descendants of Javanese monarchs are laid to rest. Transfer to your hotel, where you check in and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2
Yogyakarta | Beautiful Borobudur

Rise early to watch the sun rise over the delicate spires of Borobudur, the world’s largest Buddhist temple. Learn the history behind the construction of this terraced, three-dimensional mandala, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before returning to your hotel. Next, drive to the UNESCO-listed Prambanan Temple compound, the largest Hindu temple site in Indonesia. Its collection of sharp, jagged temples features three main inner shrines dedicated to Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Pause for tea atop a hill to watch the sun set, and then return to marvelous Prambanan Temple for dinner, followed by a spectacular song and dance performance of the epic Hindu story of King Rama.

Day 3
Yogyakarta | Java Tasting

Begin the day on guided walk around a coffee plantation, learning about the process of growing and producing organic robusta and arabica coffee. After seeing the traditional techniques used to roast and grind beans, pause for a coffee tasting, followed by lunch. Drive to the rural village of Candirejo, travelling by dokar (horse-drawn cart) as you cross small lanes lined with traditional houses. Observe daily life as locals make cassava crackers, and pause to take photos and get to know the residents.

Day 4
Bali | Setting Sail

This morning, fly to Bali. Upon arrival, stop for lunch at a local clifftop restaurant overlooking the Indian Ocean. This afternoon, visit Pura Luhur Uluwatu Temple, one of the region’s most revered sites. Perched 250 feet above the water on a sheer cliff, it offers vistas of the beach below, one of the island’s best surf spots. Watch the huge waves roll in and crash against the cliffs, keeping an eye out for the playful monkeys that inhabit the area. Proceed to Benoa Harbor, where you board ‘Aqua Blu,’ your floating home for the next seven nights. Set a course to Moyo Island as the sun sets.

Day 5
Moyo | Wildlife & Waterfalls

Arrive in Moyo, a remote hilly island with a handful of fishing villages. Discover wildlife en route to the spectacular waterfall at the center of the island and snorkel at shallow, breathtaking Angel Reef.

Day 6
Sumbawa | Whale Sharks & Fruit Bats

Spend the day in Saleh Bay, surrounded by the island of Sumbawa, where, provided the whale sharks are present, you can experience the magic of these gentle, friendly giants, under the watchful eyes of Conservation International rangers. Weighing up to 20 tons and growing to more than 30 feet in length, the whale shark is the world’s largest fish and your encounter with it is sure to prove a travel memory to last a lifetime. Back on land this evening, witness another impressive animal phenomenon, the dramatic flight of the fruit bats at Sattonda.

Day 7
Komodo National Park | Kingdom of the Komodo Dragon

Take in a spectacular sunrise and savor breakfast, with Sangeang Api volcano for backdrop. Continue to Gili Banta, a remote haven for beach lovers, snorkelers and divers. Alternately, hike the Eastern Ridge for stunning views. In the afternoon, cruise to nearby Komodo National Park to encounter mighty Komodo dragons in the wild, observing the behavior of the world’s largest lizard as it goes about its day as the island’s apex predator. Capable of killing prey as large as deer and wild pigs, Komodos employ a combination of a venomous bite and powerful hunting skills to rule their kingdom.

Day 8
Komodo National Park | Marvelous Marine Life

Discover the beauty of the Linta Strait. Situated in Komodo National Park, the narrow body of water — fabled among drift snorkelers and divers — separates Komodo and Rinca Islands. Keep watch for large pelagic fish, manta rays, giant trevally and schools of barracuda that frequent the area. In the afternoon, arrive at picturesque Padar Island, where you hike to a hilltop for iconic views, followed by a sunset cocktail on the beach.

Day 9
Komodo National Park | Pink-Sand Beach

This morning, cruise through a spectacular sea passage, arriving at Rinca Island’s dramatic, arching Horseshoe Bay, the remnants of an ancient caldera. Set out by skiff to watch sea eagles and Komodo dragons in their natural habitats or opt to dive or swim. In the late afternoon, cruise to iconic pink-sand beach. After time for some sunbathing, witness the flight of fruit bats, visit a local village, or simply continue to relax on the beach’s soft, pink sands.

Day 10
Komodo National Park | Idyllic Islet

See the largest population of Komodo Dragons on land in Komodo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then, sail to Gili Lawa Laut, an islet known for its expansive beaches, prolific marine life, and shallow reefs, for kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding. Meanwhile, diving and snorkeling spots offer you the opportunity to spot turtles.

Day 11

Cruise to the fishing town of Labuan Bajo on the island of Flores, where you disembark and transfer to the airport for your flight to Bali. Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel in Ubud.

Day 12
Bali | Culinary Adventures

Today, set out on an enriching exploration of Ubud. Situated in Bali’s picturesque uplands, Ubud is a center for traditional crafts and dance surrounded by rainforest and terraced rice paddies, set in a landscape dotted with Hindu temples and shrines. Begin the day at Puri Lukisan Museum, where you peruse its collection of modern and traditional Balinese paintings and wood carvings. Next, visit the home studio of well-known Ubud painter and architect I Gusti Nyoman Lempad, the force behind many of Ubud’s palaces and temples. Continue to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, featuring groups of cheeky, indigenous macaques, three ancient Hindu temples and jungle-covered pathways lined with mysterious statues. After lunch at a local restaurant, venture into the terraced Tegallalang rice fields, hiking to a local village, where local farmers reveal their sophisticated irrigation system. Return to your hotel for an afternoon at leisure. Then, as the sun sets over the sacred Sayan Valley, set out on a culinary journey. Enjoy Asian-Latin tapas before continuing to Saraswati Palace for a traditional dance performance beside a candle-lit lotus pond. Afterward, sit down to a fine meal overlooking the Campuhan River, capped off with a tasting of sweet delicacies.

Day 13
Bali | Village Visit & Holy Waters

Immerse yourself in local culture on an interactive day tour to Mas village, driving past rice paddies and farms en route. Attend a traditional blessing ceremony, performed by a local priest, followed by a session with an astrologer. Next, visit the Mas Balinese artisan compound, where you meet local wood carvers and learn to draw and carve traditional designs — first on soap and then on wood. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the 11th-century temple and funerary complex of Pura Gunung Kawi, which overlooks the sacred Pakerisan River. Proceed to Pura Tirta Empul, a Hindu Balinese water temple, free to immerse yourself in its cool spring water, which devotees consider holy and purifying. Return to your hotel to enjoy the rest of your day at leisure.
