KATHMANDU | HISTORIC DURBAR SQUARE
This morning, discover Durbar Square and Taleju Temple. See the House of the Living Goddess (Kumari), explore the bazaar and old city, and visit the 1,500-year-old stupa of Swayambhunath. Situated atop a high promontory, Swayambhunath commands a superb view of the valley below. After lunch, take in Patan Durbar Square, the Golden Temple, Krishna Mandir and the Patan Museum. Return to your hotel for an evening at leisure.
KATHMANDU | DEEP SPIRITUAL TIES
After breakfast, set out to explore the spiritual icons of Kathmandu. Begin at Boudhanath, a towering, tri-tiered Buddhist stupa brimming with pilgrims and prayer wheels. Next, discover Pashupatinath, a highly revered Hindu temple that draws tens of thousands of pilgrims and devotees from Nepal and India during the festival of Mahashivaratri (the night of Lord Shiva). Continue on to stroll the cobbled streets of Bhaktapur, taking in the city’s medieval art and architecture.
