Graceful, yacht-like 'Anjodi' invites you on a voyage of discovery in a blissful region of southern France, cruising between Le Somail and Marseillan. Visit Molière's home of Pézenas and pass through the Fonserannes Locks. Disembark to visit Narbonne's indoor market, enjoy a wine tasting and explore the walled city of Carcassonne, the most complete medieval fortified city still in existence. 'Anjodi' is available for charter, and itineraries such as golf, family or wine appreciation can be arranged for those with special interests.

Day 1

Meet in Narbonne, and transfer to ‘Anjodi,’ moored in the fishing village of Marseillan, for a welcome reception.

Day 2

Visit Pézenas, a delightful town rich with artisans that has also attracted actors, singers and performing artists — most notably the 17th-century playwright Molière. Then cruise to Portiragnes by way of the Bagnas Nature Reserve, a string of lagoons in the Cap d’Agde that are home to flamingoes and other water birds.

Day 3

A morning cruise offers opportunities for walking or biking on the towpath that lines the canal. After lunch, enjoy an informative wine tasting at Château de Perdiguier, a 14th-century castle that is home to the Feracci family.

Day 4

Visit Narbonne to see the fortress-like Archbishop's Palace and explore the delightful indoor market. 'Anjodi' then ascends the 7-lock flight at Fonserannes before reaching the world's oldest canal tunnel at Malpas. Dinner is ashore tonight in Béziers.

Day 5

Cruise the shaded canal to Capestang this morning. In the afternoon, take an excursion to Minerve, ancient capital of the Minervois, where there are spectacular views from the 12th-century Cathar fort.

Day 6

Visit the fascinating walled city of Carcassonne, the most complete medieval fortified city still in existence. The old town, called “La Cité,” looks much as it did in the Middle Ages. It is surrounded by a double circuit of walls and towers, and there is time to stroll the winding cobblestoned streets. In the late afternoon, cruise to the village of Le Somail for a special farewell dinner on board the barge.

After breakfast, transfer to Narbonne, where your program ends.
