ARRIVE BUDAPEST, HUNGARY

Arrive in Budapest and check in to your hotel. Tonight, gather for a welcome dinner.

DAY 2
BUDAPEST | In the Footsteps of Kings

Explore the “Buda” side of the city. Climb up Castle Hill to the towering Royal Palace. See Matthias Church, where many Hungarian kings have been crowned, and the Danube River from Fisherman’s Bastion. Later, visit the Children’s Railway, where kids collect tickets and work the trains, before a tram ride to the city for an afternoon at leisure.

DAY 3
BUDAPEST | Land of the Roma

Drive to riverside Szentendre and visit the Hungarian Open Air Museum. Next, visit Domony-völgy farm, home of the world champion horse carriage drivers, the Lazar brothers. Enjoy lunch, tour the stable with its famous Lipizzaner horses, see a horse show and wander a small Hungarian farm zoo. Tonight, embark on a private cruise along the Danube as your guide shares legendary local tales.

DAY 4
VIENNA, AUSTRIA | Along the Danube

After breakfast, travel to Bratislava to discover the cliffside Devin Castle, set against a spectacular bend of the Danube River. Explore the grounds of this commanding medieval castle with sweeping views high above the river. Stroll through Bratislava’s ancient streets, then continue the excitement with a high-speed catamaran ride to Vienna.

DAY 5
VIENNA | Magnificent Nave and Catacombs

Tour the city, visiting the Stephansplatz and the Gothic St. Stephen’s Cathedral, with its Romanesque towers and chevron-tiled roof. Tour its catacombs, which house the tombs of Frederick III and other notables, and climb its soaring tower.

DAY 6
VIENNA | The Glamour of the Viennese

Start the day with a private Viennese waltz lesson at a noted dance school followed by a visit to the interactive House of Music. Tour the glamorous Schönbrunn Palace, followed by an apple strudel baking lesson and tasting with a pastry chef. Then, trace your steps in the garden labyrinth. Return to your hotel with time at leisure.

PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC | Medieval Beauty

Depart by express train for Prague. After an introductory tour of this deeply historic yet easygoing capital city, enjoy time to explore at your own pace before dinner tonight.

DAY 8
PRAGUE | Exploring the Old Town

Today begins with a funicular ride up to the summit of Petrin Hill to see its Observation Tower, built as a miniature replica of Paris’ Eiffel Tower. Descend for a walking tour of the storied Old Town, see its amazing medieval astronomical clock and learn of the lore of the golem at the Jewish Museum. Later, travel to Nizbor, where you learn how Bohemian crystal is made. Return to Prague.

DAY 9
PRAGUE | From Treasures to Toys

Rise for a morning tour of Prague’s sprawling Castle District. Visit the Toy Museum, filled with hundreds of collectible toys. Continue to the National Marionette Theater, delighting in a playful puppet performance orchestrated by skilled artists. Return to your hotel for time at leisure before your farewell dinner tonight.

DEPART PRAGUE

Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
