Continue to incense-laden Taoist Man Mo Temple before ascending Victoria Peak for sweeping views of Hong Kong. Travel to Aberdeen Fishing Village for a glimpse into everyday life here. Enjoy a dim sum lunch at a local restaurant, followed by an afternoon at leisure. Tonight, dine at a local restaurant before marveling at a Symphony of Lights extravaganza that lights up the skies and skyscrapers with impressive displays of colored lights and laser beams, synchronized to music and narration. Afterward, return to your hotel.
Hong Kong | Gala Dinner & Spectacular Fireworks
In the mid-morning, set out on a foodie tour through the Central and Sheung Wan districts. As you walk, feast on an assortment of the city’s most popular foods, gaining insight into the lifestyles, history and culture of Hong Kong along the way. After lunch at your leisure return to your hotel. Tonight, gather for a multi-course gala dinner in a private setting at the elegant, two-starred Michelin restaurant — Pierre — located on the 25th floor of your luxurious hotel. Raise a Champagne toast at midnight to usher in the New Year and watch the city’s spectacular fireworks display over Victoria Harbour.
Hong Kong | Exploring the New Territories
This afternoon, set off on a heritage tour of the New Territories, the region leased from Qing China to the United Kingdom at the end of the 19th century to accommodate the burgeoning Hong Kong population. Drive to Kam Tin, in the heart of the Sek Kong valley, to visit Kat Hing Wai, one of the most historically significant walled villages in the New Territories. Explore the ancestral halls and shu sut (study hall) at Shui Tau Tsuen and Shui Mei Tsuen, and visit the locally famous shu uk (tree house) in an enormous Chinese banyan tree. Proceed to Ping Shan, where you visit two of the recently restored Tang clan halls and finish your tour at the Tsui Tsing Lau; first built in the 14th century, it is Hong Kong’s only original extant pagoda. This evening, gather for a farewell dinner at the Peking Garden restaurant, world-renowned for its Peking duck and other fine cuisine.
