Luxury Redefined at Botswana's Sanctuary Chief's Camp

For those looking for a spectacular safari in Africa, Chief's Camp features top-shelf hospitality in a wildlife-spotter’s paradise.

Sanctuary Chief's Camp in Botswana’s lush Okavango Delta welcomes African safari tour guests with a luxurious top-tier safari camp experience that features ten beautiful, stylish pavilions, each of which includes a private plunge pool and an expansive deck, as well as the stunning, one-of-a-kind Geoffrey Kent Suite. In its spacious public spaces, guests will find a bar, library, dining room, fitness center and a sprawling deck with a pizza oven. There’s even a "Children's Retreat" and an orientation room where guests can learn more about the Delta before embarking on game drives.

"Chief's Camp provides guests with every luxury and then some," says Charl Badenhorst, Operations Director for Sanctuary Retreats in Botswana, "including private outdoor dining options, so guests can fully enjoy their surroundings."

Morning coffee delivery and heated mattress pads are just some of the special touches at the camp. Each en suite bathroom has floor-to-ceiling windows and folding glass doors, a spacious outdoor shower, a large, indulgent soaking tub and top-of-the-line amenities.

The ultra-sumptuous Geoffrey Kent suite is a space befitting the pioneer of luxury African safaris. At 6,674 square feet, the suite can accommodate two to six guests in complete seclusion. It features two pavilions, a private kitchen, indoor lounge, private boma with fire pit, and a secluded deck area. It’s fully staffed with a dedicated chef, personal waiter, housekeeper and a private safari vehicle with guide, and is ideal for honeymooners or groups of friends or family.

In keeping with the camp's mission of operating in as eco-friendly a way as possible, the camp has built its own solar farm.

"We wanted the camp to be completely off-grid and use 100% renewable energy sources," says Charl. The solar farm is one of the largest in Botswana and will provide 70% of the energy for the lodge.

From its minimal carbon footprint to its generous and refined amenities, Sanctuary Chief’s Camp remains the gold standard for luxury safari camps in Southern Africa and a favorite accommodation on some of A&K’s most popular small-group and private journeys.
