Arriving from all corners of the globe on little sleep we descended on the worlds southern most city, Ushuaia. Being mid afternoon its streets were filled with local shoppers and travelers like us, in search of those last minute items before setting of on our exploration of the Southern Ocean. As we approached the pier we spotted Le Boreal through the buses windows.
From this angle, bathed in the afternoon sun, it seemed as though it was only a dream. Could this truly be our home away from home for the coming weeks, the place we would spend our holiday season.
With the sun pushing through the moisture–laden clouds creating a brilliant rainbow over Ushuaia, Captain Patrick Marchesseau announced our departure from Ushuaia. Could there be a better setting for our journey to begin?
