Day 1: Arrive Amman, Jordan

Arrive in Amman. After clearing customs and immigration, meet your A&K representative and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Jerash | Street of Columns

Step back in time as you visit Jerash, the third-century “Pompeii of the Middle East,” destroyed by invasion and earthquake. Once a city thriving under the Roman Empire, its hills have revealed Neolithic, Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Umayyad-era remains. Explore its colonnaded streets, which show grooves of chariot wheels to this day. Proceed to Amman, visiting its historic downtown, the Citadel, the remains of a small Byzantine basilica, the Great Temple of Amman and the Roman Theater. Then, take a dip in the restorative Dead Sea, floating buoyantly on its surface.

Day 3: Mount Nebo/Madaba | Miraculous Views

Journey overland to Mount Nebo, where Moses is said to have glimpsed the Promised Land, and take in the stunning views toward Bethlehem and Jerusalem. Continue along scenic King’s Highway to Madaba, the “City of Mosaics,” with its sixth-century mosaic map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land. Proceed to the ancient city of Petra, where you check in to your hotel.

Day 4: Petra | The “Rose-Red City”

Spend a full day exploring Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, former merchant city and caravan stop. Wander amid its baths, markets, Temple of the Winged Lions, Corinthian Tomb, Palace Tomb and iconic Treasury.

Day 5: Wadi Rum | Valley of the Moon

Today, encounter the landscape of Wadi Rum, with its rose-hued mountains and endless desert vistas. It is here that T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) lived with his Bedouin allies during World War I. Later, return to Amman.

Days 6-8: Jerusalem/Bethlehem | Epicenter of Faiths

Cross into Israel and drive to the Mount of Olives for a view over Temple Mount (Al Haram el-Sharif). Visit the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed before his crucifixion. Tour Mahna Yahuda market, enjoying food tastings. Visit the Israel Museum’s Shrine of the Book and Second Temple Model to view a portion of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Check in to your Jerusalem hotel. The next day, tour the Old City, first stopping at the Western Wall, one of Judaism’s most sacred sites. View the Temple Mount area with its Dome of the Rock. Stroll the Via Dolorosa, where Jesus carried the cross, arriving at the recently renovated Church of the Holy Sepulcher, traditional site of Jesus’ crucifixion, burial and resurrection. The following day, visit Yad Vashem, Israel’s memorial to Holocaust victims. Drive to Bethlehem to visit the Church of the Nativity. View the city’s skyline on a Scenic Sundowner.

Day 9: Masada | Zealot Stronghold & the Qumran Caves

Visit Masada, taking a cable car up to the final stronghold, where Jewish Zealots made their last stand against the Romans. Later, stop at the Qumran Caves, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in 1947, before returning to Jerusalem.

Days 10-11: Acre/Nazareth/Sea of Galilee | Town of Jesus’ Youth

Drive to the ancient seaport of Acre to discover its Crusader Halls, markets, old town and port. Then visit Nazareth, the boyhood town of Jesus. In Tiberias, check in to your beachfront hotel on the Sea of Galilee. The next day, board a boat for a cruise on the Sea of Galilee, stopping at Capernaum, site of St. Peter’s house and the synagogue where Jesus taught as well as the serene Mount of the Beatitudes, believed to be the setting for the Sermon on the Mount. Drive up the Golan Heights, with its views of Lebanon, Syria and the lush Tel Dan, for a talk on artisanal wines and a tasting. Then, see tranquil Banias, with its beautiful waterfall.

Day 12: Caesarea/Tel Aviv/Jaffa | Vibrant Artist Quarter

Travel to Tel Aviv, stopping in Caesarea, built to honor Augustus Caesar, along the way. Upon arrival in the “White City,” a UNESCO World Heritage Site, embark on a city tour, viewing its Art Deco and Bauhaus sections. Then, take a walking tour of the thriving artists’ colony of Jaffa. Check in to your hotel, spending the remainder of your day at leisure.

Day 13: Depart Tel Aviv

After breakfast, transfer to the airport and board your homebound flight.
