Day 2: Nairobi | Magical Meetings with Wildlife

Today, meet some of Africa’s most remarkable species in two special settings. Visit the Giraffe Center, where you may hand feed endangered Rothschild's giraffes from a platform that brings you to eye level with these majestic giants; watch as they gently snatch food with their long blue tongues. At Daphne Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage, witness young elephants at play or watch as they are bottle-fed by attentive keepers, who explain the process of gradually reintroducing the elephants into the wild. Later, visit a jewelry workshop created by and for Kenyan women. This evening, gather for a special welcome dinner.

Days 3-4: Amboseli National Park | On the Prowl for Big Game

Depart for Amboseli National Park, famous for its big game and stunning views of snowcapped Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. After lunch, exciting safaris led by your expert A&K driver guides take your family through acacia woodlands; freshwater swamps; and open plains in search of elephants, zebra and wildebeest. Discover more of this mountainside wildlife haven the next day on more exciting game drives, departing for your first at dawn, when Kilimanjaro stands in a clear and most inspired light.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania | Ancient Caldera

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater | Inside the Lost World

A UNESCO World Heritage Site and veritable “Lost World” of wildlife, Ngorongoro Crater was formed some three million years ago when a giant volcano erupted and collapsed, leaving behind the vast, unbroken caldera. Today, Ngorongoro is home to an incredible concentration of wildlife, including one of the highest densities of lions. Ride down into the lush expanse for a picnic lunch and full day of game drives, searching for hyenas, gazelles, lions and even the rare black rhino. Later, visit a Maasai Village, where you meet with the village elder and learn how to make the tribal community’s unique beaded jewelry.

Day 7: Serengeti National Park | Cradle of Humankind

Depart for Serengeti National Park. Stop on the way for a privately guided visit to Olduvai Gorge, an archaeological site housing some of the earliest human remains, including a 1.8-million-year-old human skull. Later, arrive at your lodge and, time permitting, set out on your first game drive into the extraordinary Serengeti.

Day 8: Serengeti National Park | Endless Plains of Africa

The Serengeti lives up to its magical reputation during morning and afternoon game drives, during which your family searches for Africa’s “Big Five” — leopards, buffalo, elephants, rhinos and lions, the last of which are renowned for their large numbers here. In addition to these most famous creatures, you may also spot the lesser-known, but also exciting, “Little Five” — antlion, rhinoceros beetle, leopard tortoise, buffalo weaver and elephant shrew. In lieu of the morning game drive, choose to take your family to new heights on an unforgettable hot air balloon ride over the grassy plains of Tanzania’s largest national park (weather permitting and at an additional cost).

Day 9: Masai Mara Game Reserve | Wildlife of the Great Rift Valley

Days 10-11: Masai Mara Game Reserve | Days of Discovery

Explore this magnificent savanna country for the next two days, setting out on morning and afternoon game drives in search of lions, buffalo, giraffes, elephants, hippos and more. Look forward to sipping refreshing mocktails and cocktails, arranged by your expert guides in a perfectly scenic location right in the African bush. Gather together for Family Chef Time, joining the local chef for a hands-on lesson in preparing traditional foods as well as the chance to taste the dishes you create together. You may also experience an important look at local life when you visit with the students of a local primary school. You will also have another opportunity to take a hot air balloon safari, a thrilling experience for all ages (weather permitting and at an additional cost). On your final evening, feast with new friends and celebrate your adventure in Africa during a special farewell dinner.
