After a breakfast of local specialties, visit magnificent Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, a location for the 1998 film, The Man in the Iron Mask. After your private tour, attend a morning-tea reception hosted in the estate’s glorious gardens. Then enjoy a tranquil afternoon cruise to rural Courtaron.

Cruise to Château-Thierry, with time to relax on deck. After lunch, visit Belleau Wood, a famous World War I battle site. Continue to the 420-acre Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and Memorial, where more than 2,000 war dead are buried. Return to the barge for a delicious dinner prepared by your onboard chef.

In Cumières, disembark to visit Hautvillers, the birthplace of Champagne. At the Champagne house of Billecart-Salmon, learn about the winemaking process and taste the bubbly. Continue to Hautvillers Abbey to visit Dom Pérignon’s tomb before enjoying a Champagne picnic. Tonight, dine ashore in style at the Michelin-starred Hostellerie La Briqueterie.

Cruise to Tours-sur-Marne. Visit the family-run vineyard of Champagne Ployez-Jacquemart in Ludes for an exclusive tasting hosted by the founder’s granddaughter in the family’s home. Back on board tonight, enjoy a Champagne tasting hosted by an ambassador of famed house of Champagne Laurent-Perrier, followed by dinner.

Cruise toward Châlons-en-Champagne, with time to walk or cycle the towpaths. Drive to Reims, where you visit the immense Gothic cathedral, once the coronation site of French kings, before setting out on a guided tour of the Musée des Beaux-Arts, an 18th-century abbey turned art museum. Return to the barge for the captain’s farewell dinner.
