Day 4: Kelso | On Location

This morning, see how the Duke of Roxburghe embraces both tradition and modernity with a private tour of Floors Castle. Begin with coffee and a briefing on the property in the Duke’s private dining room. Take in the vast grounds of the estate as you learn about its ongoing horse breeding legacy, as well as modernizations including an on-site biomass power system. Next, drive toward the North Sea to tour Alnwick Castle, seat of the Dukes of Northumberland and a filming location for Harry Potter and Downton Abbey.

Day 5: Kelso/York, England | Roman Influence

A scenic drive through the Borders takes you along the route of an ancient Roman road. Pause at Heddon-on-the-Wall to see the remains of Hadrian’s Wall, once the northern frontier of the Roman Empire. Stop in Durham to visit the massive Norman cathedral. Day 6: York | Magnificence on the Moors

A short drive takes you to the Yorkshire Moors, inspiration for writers through the ages including James Herriot and the Brontë sisters. Day 8: Chatsworth/the Cotswolds | Experience the Good Life

Gain a different perspective at Calke Abbey, which reveals the fate of many British country houses. Left largely as it was when vacated by the last generation of inhabitants, the house evokes the faded glory of a bygone era. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the charming grounds. Then, pause in Coventry and visit the renewed cathedral destroyed by World War II bombing. Experience your own private country manor in the Cotswolds. Relax in the library, request a drink from your butler, or perhaps join your chef in the kitchen as he prepares a private dinner for the group.

Day 9: Blenheim Palace | Home of a Legendary Statesman

This evening, relax in your private manor.
