Family Yellowstone & the Grand Tetons

Day 2: Big Sky/Gallatin Canyon | On the Ranch

Head to the ski resort town of Big Sky and enjoy a short hike to a waterfall named for the Ouzel, also known as the American Dipper. Savor a picnic lunch, and then head back to the 320 Guest Ranch, where local cowboys give a lesson on the basics of roping. The rest of the afternoon is on your own for fly fishing on the trout pond or relaxing on the porch of your cabin.

Journey to the west entrance of Yellowstone — America’s, and the world’s, first national park. Proceed to Midway Geyser Basin for a view of the vividly-hued Grand Prismatic Hot Spring. Continue to the Fountain Paint Pot trail to view all four types of Yellowstone’s thermal features, and then enjoy a packed lunch. Drive a short way to the Old Faithful area, for a brief orientation. Remain on hand for the next eruption of Yellowstone’s most famous geyser.

Day 5: Lake Yellowstone | Exploring the Stunning Landscapes

Travel to the north end of beautiful Lake Yellowstone, and then set out on an easy, yet stunning, hike to Storm Point for wide-open views of the lake. After a picnic lunch, return to the Old Faithful area, stopping en route to snap some family keepsake photos. Once there, opt to take the afternoon off or hike to an overlook of the entire Upper Geyser Basin. Meet up later for dinner at the lodge.

Later, arrive for dinner and a relaxing evening at your lodge.
