Day 2: Tarangire National Park | Wildlife Sightings

Meet young Africans who are overcoming unique learning challenges when you visit Ilboru Primary School, one of the few schools in the region that offers programs for deaf and special needs children, a project supported by A&K Philanthropy. Next, travel overland to Tarangire National Park, where open grasslands, acacia trees and the Tarangire River paint a wild landscape, and settle into your tented safari camp. Embark on an afternoon game drive in search of giraffes, waterbucks, wildebeest, zebras and elephants. Keep your eyes trained for hartebeest, gazelles and exotic birds like the bateleur and martial eagle. Your local expert driver-guide draws on years of experience in the bush to locate the best wildlife viewing opportunities right as they happen.

Day 3: Tarangire National Park | Abundant Game Viewing

Today, set out on morning and afternoon game drives in search of abundant wildlife. This evening, you may choose an optional game drive by moonlight (at an additional cost). As dusk falls, relax in the comfort of your safari vehicle as you venture into the park, as it is transformed by night. Search for nocturnal animals rarely seen by visitors. Among the species, you may encounter an African wildcat or the elusive leopard, or you may feel the round eyes of a bushbaby peering down at you. With specialized lighting, look for lions and hyenas as well as smaller creatures such as spotted servals, bat-eared foxes and owls.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater | Amphitheater of Animals

As you cross the Great Rift Valley, stop to visit a market in Mto wa Mbu, where stalls brim with vibrant local produce. Then, see the village from a different perspective as you ride on a tuk-tuk, viewing the local community and rice fields as you go. Take a scenic drive to tranquil Gibb’s Farm, where you stop for a lunch made with organic, fresh-picked ingredients. Later, arrive just outside the natural amphitheater of Ngorongoro Crater, a 2,000-foot-deep caldera that offers a fascinating microcosm of East African wildlife — including buffalo, flamingos, lions and leopards. Arrive at your safari camp located on the rim of the crater, featuring hand-woven rugs, comfortable beds with crisp linens, and en suite bathrooms with flush toilets and bucket showers.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater | Intimate Crater Barbecue

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a vast expanse where a variety of animal activity is commonplace. Avoid the crowded picnic sites during a hosted hot gourmet lunch, prepared by your camp staff. Then, visit with an elder at a Maasai village to learn about the tribe’s traditional, nomadic lifestyle and coexistence with wildlife. Later, witness a private dance performance at your tented camp.

Day 6: Serengeti National Park | Searching the Vast Plains

Fly to Serengeti National Park and settle into your safari camp. Then, set out on the boundless Serengeti, one of the oldest and least-changed ecosystems on earth, where lions, hyenas and leopards all roam. Depending on your choice of departure, you may also witness the spectacular Great Migration. Tonight, as the equatorial sun hangs low over the plains, sip a sundowner cocktail and reflect on the majesty of Africa.
