Tailor Made Chile and Argentina: Two Capitals & a Shared Wilderness

Day 1: Arrive Buenos Aires, Argentina

Arrive in Buenos Aires, where you are met and transferred to your hotel for guaranteed early check-in. In the afternoon, take a brief walking tour of the area, with a stop at Recoleta Cemetery. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Days 2-3: Buenos Aires | Dancing the Tango

Explore the romantic city of Buenos Aires, seeing its Plaza Mayor, the Casa Rosada, the Cabildo and the Cathedral Metropolitan. Stroll through the lovely parks and gardens of Palermo and discover the old quarters of San Telmo, the bustling banking and business center and the colorful La Boca district. This evening, take a tango lesson at Café de los Angelitos, followed by dinner and a tango performance in a VIP area. The following day, head to the countryside for a polo lesson, culminating in the opportunity to play on the field. After an authentic Argentine lunch, explore the estancia on foot or by bike, or just relax by the infinity pool. In the afternoon watch a polo match. Return to your hotel for time at leisure.

Days 4-5: Bariloche | Visit to “Little Switzerland”

Fly to Bariloche. and tour the postcard-perfect Alpine region many call “Little Switzerland.” Take an afternoon boat cruise, followed by an evening at leisure. This next morning, discover the best-kept secrets of scenic Bariloche, a panoply of lush hills, snow-topped peaks and lakes reflecting a crisp blue sky. As you walk for about 40 minutes on even terrain alongside your informative guide interpreter, listen to the sounds of the forest, such as the trill of the chucao and the regular pecking of woodpeckers. Taste the mate, a traditional, caffeine-rich infused drink.

Day 6: Ushuaia | Seaside Splendor

Fly to the charming seaside town of Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. Christened in 1520 by Hernando de Magallanes, its name was given for the fires lit on the shores by the Onas native inhabitants, who arrived to this area some ten thousand years ago, when it was still connected to the mainland. Spend the day at leisure, perhaps taking a guided trek in the Cerro Alarken Nature Reserve.

Day 7: Ushuaia | Spectacular Tierra del Fuego

Explore Tierra del Fuego National Park, its varied landscape cut with deep valleys and many lakes. You may opt to cross the Cormorant Archipelago up to Green Lagoon during an island walk or follow the Negra Lagoon Track to witness darkly colored waters and big peat mosses. Alternately, you may pass through a lenga forest — a scenic pathway that affords a striking view of the bay — or opt to traverse the Peat Bog Walkway, seeing abandoned beaver dams. Next, discover the neighborhoods of Ushuaia, and see key landmarks, including the Provincial City Hall and the former house of government. Visit the End of the World Museum, an institution aimed to preserve the natural and historical heritage of Tierra del Fuego. Then, board ‘Stella Australis’ to begin your adventure amid Argentinean and Chilean fjords. This evening, enjoy a welcome cocktail, followed by dinner.

Day 8: Cape Horn & Wulaia Bay | Nature’s Beauty

Proceed to Murray Channel and Nassau Bay to reach Cape Horn National Park — a World Biosphere Reserve — where you disembark and explore onshore (weather permitting). Stand in awe of legendary Cape Horn, a 1,394-foot rocky promontory. Return to your ship for time at leisure. In the afternoon, go ashore at Wulaia Bay, originally the site of one of the region’s largest Yamana aboriginal settlements. Charles Darwin landed here during his voyage in 1833. Take an enchanted walk through the forest of lengas, coigües, canelos, ferns and other endemic vegetation to reach a panoramic viewpoint.

Day 9: Agostini Sound & Aguila Glacier | Glacier Sightings

Sail through Brecknock, Ocasión, Cockburn and Magdalena Channels to enter the spectacular De Agostini Sound, in the heart of the Darwin Mountain Range. Observe glaciers that span from the mountainside the sea. In the afternoon, take zodiac boats to the Águila Glacier, and embark upon an easy walk to its base.

Day 10: Puerto Natales, Chile | Exploring Magdalena Island

Go ashore to discover Magdalena Island, situated in the Strait of Magellan. Now inhabited by a immesnse colony of Magellanic penguins, it once was a source of supplies for navigators and explorers. After disembarking your ship, proceed to Punta Arenas for lunch. Continue to Puerto Natales, your home for the next four nights.

Days 11-13: Puerto Natales | Nature at its Wildest

Get an inside perspective of Patagonia’s wilds, choosing between your property’s array of guided expedition tours and activities, including horseback riding, trekking, kayaking, mountain biking and bird-watching. You may also visit the property’s private reserves, Punta Jamón and Estancia la Cumbre at Sierra Baguales Ranch.

Day 14: Santiago | Time to Unwind

This morning, transfer back to the airport in Punta Arenas to connect with your flight to Santiago. Upon arrival, you are met by your guide and transferred to your hotel for check-in.

Day 15: Depart Santiago

Begin the morning on a panoramic tour of this South American city, seeing Palacio de La Moneda Presidential Palace; the Plaza de Armas and the nearby cathedral and Central Post Office; and the main square, where you take a short walking tour. Visit San Cristobal hill for the chance to take a funicular ride to the top. Return to your hotel and relax before your evening departure flight. Then, tranfer to the airport and fly home.
