Day 1: Arrive Panama City, Panama

Arrive in Panama City, where you receive VIP assistance as you pass through customs and immigration procedures. Transfer to your hotel in Panama City’s financial district.

The Bristol Hotel

Days 2-3: Panama City | Seeing the Panama Canal

This morning, embark upon a private tour of Panama City. Begin in the old city, Panama Viejo, exploring these spectacular ruins on the banks of Bay of Panama. Continue to colonial Casco Antiguo, visiting historical churches and public buildings, some of which date back to 1673. After lunch, see the first Frank Gehry building constructed in Latin America, the Biomuseo — a vividly hued concrete and steel structure located on Amador Causeway. The next day, transfer by private vehicle to board your vessel to the Panama Canal. Pass through the Miraflores Locks to enter Miraflores Lake. Proceed through Pedro Miguel Locks and the Gaillard Cut, where the Chagres River flows into the canal. After your cruise through the famous locale, return to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Days 4-5: Chagres National Park/Soberania National Park | An Indigenous Village

Begin the day with a dugout canoe ride up the Chagres River, seeing the jungle’s splendors en route. Arrive at the Emberá village, where you learn about local life and witness a dance and musical performance. While there, learn about medicinal plants and how they’ve impacted modern-day pharmaceuticals. You may also opt to paint your body as the Emberá do — with natural fruit dye. Then, set out on a jungle trek in search of abundant birdlife and wildlife. The next day, pay a visit to the Panama Rainforest Discovery Center, seeing its 13 species of hummingbirds and watching for monkeys, sloths, coatis nearly 400 species of birds and butterflies alongside your guide.

Browse local handicrafts in merchants’ shops before visiting the Church of San Felipe, one of the oldest buildings in town. The church houses the statue of the Black Christ; one of the most revered images in Panama, it is celebrated by an annual feast each October 21.
