Day 1: Arrive Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Arrive in Rio de Janeiro and transfer to your ocean-view hotel.
Days 2-3: Rio de Janeiro | Christ the Redeemer
Discover Corcovado (Hunchback) Mountain, with panoramic city views. Crowning Corcovado at 2,400 feet above sea level is the majestic, 120-foot statue of Christ the Redeemer. Continue on to the scenic Santa Teresa neighborhood — known for its classic trolley car, “Montmartre Carioca,” which winds through the narrow streets past stunning historic buildings. After a gaucho-served meal at churrascaria Fogo de Chão, visit the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain for views of Guanabara Bay, sandy beaches and the city. Spend the next day at leisure, perhaps taking a dip in the pool or booking a spa appointment. You can also explore Copacabana, an eclectic neighborhood filled with cafes, restaurants and interesting architecture.

Day 4: Iguazu Falls | National Park of Iguazu
Fly to Iguazu Falls at the border of Brazil and Argentina. The falls are one of the most impressive sights in the world, with a breathtaking 275 cascades spread across a gulf of nearly two miles. Have lunch where the Iguazu River tumbles over the Parana Plateau. In the afternoon, visit the Brazilian side of the falls and take a guided walking tour through the national park. Later, you may opt to take an unforgettable helicopter flight over the falls to see the splendor from an aerial vantage point.

Day 5: Iguazu Falls | From the Argentine Side
Cross Tancredo Neves Bridge and explore the Argentine side of National Park of Iguazu. Board a train shuttle to the Cataratas Station, where you disembark to walk paths that lead along and above the spectacular falls. Beautiful flowers, ferns, tropical plants, butterflies and exotic birds add to the experience. Board another train shuttle to Devil’s Throat, where you walk onto a catwalk that extends 1,300 yards over the lush tropical basin of Devil’s Gorge.

Days 6-8: Pantanal | Into the Wilds
Fly to Cuiaba, where you are met and transferred overland to your hotel. En route, pass through the small village of Mimoso, where Amazon explorer Candido Rondon was born. After checking in to your hotel, enjoy a bowl of pre-dinner piranha soup. The next day, take a horseback ride through the woods, up to the edge of the Siá Mariana Bay. Keep watch for a wide array of birds, animals and reptiles. In the afternoon, board a boat for a photographic safari on the pristine Mutum River, where it's possible to see giant otters, stingrays and huge schools of small fish. The following day, embark on a guided jungle and open field walk to observe resident wildlife. Later, take a ride down the Mutum River, seeing Mariana Bay and Chacororé Bay. Pause to appreciate the sunset over Mariana Bay en route back to your hotel.

Day 9: Manaus | Canoeing at Sunrise
Rise early for a sunrise canoe ride down the Mutum River. After breakfast, fly to Manaus, where you are met and transferred to your hotel. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 10: Amazon River | Amazon Cruise
Embark on a city tour, visiting Teatro Amazonas, a beautiful opera house, and the Adolpho Lisboa Municipal Market, a cast-iron copy in miniature of Paris’s famed Les Halles market building, opened in 1882. Attend a welcome reception, followed by dinner and live music as you set sail along the mighty Amazon River.

Days 11-12: Amazon River | Witnessing Wildlife
Visit a local home in the Lake Janauacá region, gaining insight into the local culture and way of life. Continue cruising the stunning Amazon River, awakening to the songs of birds and distinct calls of wildlife. Keep your camera at the ready as your search for parrots, monkeys and anacondas during photo safaris. Fish for piranhas, and relax on deck while taking in the lush setting. In Manacapurú take a morning boat ride while keeping watch for resident birds. Take a jungle trek before returning to boat for lunch. Later, navigate the Manacapurú’s igarapés (narrow streams) and igapós (flooded forests) by boat.
