Tailor Made London, Paris & Rome: Iconic Cities

Day 1: Arrive London, England

Upon arrival in London, you are met by your Guardian Angel and transferred to your hotel, where you are assisted with check-in.

The Kensington

Days 2-3: London | Historic City

Meet your guide and explore the iconic city of London, driving past the Tower of London, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Tower Bridge, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square. After taking in the city’s panorama from atop the London Eye, the world's largest cantilevered observation wheel, return to your hotel for time at leisure. The next day, drive outside of the city to Windsor Castle, the world’s oldest and largest inhabited castle. With a history spanning nearly one thousand years, it is the official residence of Her Majesty The Queen. Subject to opening restrictions, you may see the State Apartments, St. George's Chapel and Queen Mary's Dolls' House. Then, take in views of Eton College from the castle ramparts. Return to London from here and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

Days 4-6: Paris, France | “City of Light”

Transfer to the train station and board the train to Paris. Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel in the Saint-Germain des Prés area. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. The next day, explore Paris alongside your private guide, seeing the impressive Arc de Triomphe and — at its base — the grave of the Unknown Soldier. From this Etoile (Star) stretches the fabled Champs-Élysées. See, too, the iconic Eiffel Tower, designed by Gustave Eiffel. The tower was constructed so that its weight exerts no more pressure on the ground per inch than a man seated in a four-legged chair. Proceed to the Ile de la Cité, an island in the Seine River, to visit the Gothic Notre Dame Cathedral. The following day, drive to Versailles, seeing the huge palace that was constructed in the 17th century for Louis XIV, the “Sun King.” See the opulent State Apartments, which culminate in the magnificent Gallery of Mirrors. You may also stroll through the impressive, formal ornamental gardens, which are embellished with fountains and sculptures. Return to your hotel and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

Days 7-10: Rome, Italy | Eternal City

Transfer to the airport and fly to Rome, home to a greater number of historic buildings, monuments and ruins than any other city in the world. Check in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. The following day, discover the heart of the Roman Empire alongside your insightful guide. Marvel at the imposing Colosseum, commissioned by Emperor Vespasian. The stadium accommodated up to 50,000 spectators, who came to view the gladiatorial battles that lasted up to 100 days. Adjacent is the Arc of Constantine; dating from AD 315, it is a forerunner to many other Triumphal Arches around the world. Continue to the excavations of the vast Roman Forum, where the remains of temples, streetscapes and palaces can now be visited up close. Then, see the Emperor's forums, Trajan, Augustus and Caesar and Palatine Hill. Inhabited since the ninth century BC, legend says that this is where Romulus, founder of Rome, lived. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure. The following day, visit Vatican City. See the Vatican Museums, part of the Papal Residence, which is estimated to contain 1,400 rooms, chapels and galleries filled with precious art, maps, sculptures and antiquities. However, the most breathtaking masterpiece is Michelangelo's frescoed ceiling in the Sistine Chapel. At the center of the Vatican lies the vast Basilica of St. Peter; pass the colorfully adorned Swiss Guard, seeing the cathedral’s mix of Renaissance and Baroque architecture, formed under the hands of masters. Your final day in Rome is yours to spend at leisure.
