Tailor Made Best of Australia

Day 1: Arrive Melbourne, Australia | City Stroll

Arrive in Melbourne and transfer to your hotel. After a morning at leisure, embark on a private walking tour. Board a tram (trolley car); explore the labyrinth of arcades and alleyways filled with graffiti art, trendy cafes and boutiques; and see the Gothic Bank and Block Arcade. The evening is yours to spend as you choose.

Day 2: Melbourne | Along the Coast

Among the world’s most beautiful coastal drives, Great Ocean Road stretches along the southern coast of Victoria. Travel southwest from Melbourne and discover its inspiring scenery, charming towns and hamlets. Marvel at huge cliffs, roaring seas, tranquil coves, magnificent waterfalls and secluded beaches. Head inland through the towering forests toward Port Campbell National Park, seeing the sculptured beauty of The Twelve Apostles — stacks of flat-bedded limestone that soar above sea level. Return to Melbourne and spend the evening at leisure.

Days 3-4: Kangaroo Island | Pristine Landscapes

Fly to Kangaroo Island via Adelaide. Located off the coast of South Australia, its unspoiled wilderness gives way to abundant native wildlife, including kangaroos, wallabies, penguins and koalas. Transfer to your lodge, which is situated atop a secluded cliff on a rugged stretch of coast. The remainder of the day is yours to spend at leisure. The next day, take a guided tour of Kangaroo Island, perhaps visiting Seal Bay at sunrise. Get acquainted with native wildlife, the island’s maritime heritage and the incredible coastal landscape. See the Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch and the Cape du Couedic Lighthouse. In the evening, you may embark nocturnal tours, maybe visiting some of the tiny penguins.

Days 5-6: Uluru | Ayers Rock

Later, take a sunset tour of mythical Uluru (Ayers Rock), pausing for refreshments as the rock changes colors with the setting sun. Spend the next day experiencing the different activities on offer. You may visit Uluru again at sunrise, or discover Kata-Tjuta (The Olgas), with breakfast overlooking the spectacular Valley of the Winds. Alternately, set out on a morning walk through a variety of desert landscapes — sand dunes, spinifex country, mulga woodlands and desert oak communities — alongside a knowledgeable guide.
