Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Hanoi

Arrive in Hanoi and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Hanoi | City of the Soaring Dragon

Today experience the grace and pace of exotic Hanoi. Visit Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and his former residence as well as the splendid lotus-inspired One Pillar Pagoda. Enjoy a panoramic cyclo tour followed by a stroll through the Old Quarter. This evening, gather with fellow guests for a welcome dinner.

Days 3-4: Cruising Ha Long Bay | Serene Emerald Waters

Travel to Ha Long to board ‘Au Co,’ your luxury junk (flat- bottomed boat) for the next two days. Explore breathtaking Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its countless limestone rock formations, islands and caves rising up from its emerald waters. On day three, ride in a row boat to the floating village of Cong Dam. Cruise into the geological park of untouched Bai Tu Long Bay. On day four, begin your morning with tai chi on the sundeck. Choose from a guided kayaking tour or refreshing swim in Vung Ha, a remote region of the Gulf of Tonkin replete with hidden beaches. Later, discover lush Cat Ba Island with its indigenous flora and fauna. Wander into its rainforest to the secluded Viet Hai village.

Day 5: Hai Phong | The City of the Red Flamboyant

Start your morning with tai chi on the sundeck before visiting the fascinating Sung Sot cave. Disembark ‘Au Co’ and journey to Vinh Bao village in Hai Phong to see the ancient art of Vietnamese water puppetry. Join local villagers and watch as puppeteers in knee-deep water skillfully manipulate dragons spouting fire and water snakes chased by farmers. Later, fly to Ho Chi Minh City, where you are transferred to your hotel with the rest of your day at leisure.

Day 6: Ho Chi Minh City | Metropolis on the Move

Today explore exciting Saigon, now called Ho Chi Minh City. Tour the Reunification Palace and War Remnants Museum, stopping also to see Notre Dame Cathedral and the Post Office. Later, wander the two-story Binh Tay Market, a favorite among locals, and Thien Hau Pagoda.

Days 7-10: Cruising the Mekong | Bustling Trading Route

Board the striking ‘Aqua Mekong’ and begin your four-night voyage over the legendary delta. On day seven, stop in My Tho-Cai to meet with a local family in their home and visit a fish farm. On day eight, explore Cu Lao Islet and Sa Dec; visit a historic Catholic convent, a local market and the house of French author Marguerite Duras. Day nine brings you to Chau Doc, where you tender in a local junk to Tra Su flooded forest; you also explore Sam Mountain Buddhist monastery and shop with a local chef. The next day, ride a skiff amid the hustle and bustle of life on the Mekong; later, experience spirituality in a ceremony at a Buddhist Temple.

Day 11: Phnom Penh | Cambodia’s Captivating Capital

Join your guide to tour the Royal Palace with its Silver Pagoda, the National Museum of Khmer Art and Archaeology with its thousands of Khmer treasures, and Tuol Sleng Museum. Later, browse the Russian Market.

Days 12-14: Siem Reap | Treasures of the Khmer Empire

Fly to Siem Reap and spend the next three days exploring the revered temples and monuments of the Khmer Empire. Begin with a breathtaking sunset tour of Angkor Wat, the crowning jewel of Khmer architecture; contemplate its spiritual power as you explore its hallways perfumed with burning incense. Explore the ancient fortified city of Angkor Thom with its stunning Banyon Temple. Pay a visit to Artisans D’Angko, a school for underprivileged young students, before visiting romantic Ta Prohm. On your last day, journey to the remote, jungle-wrapped temple of Beng Mealea. Later, explore the pink sandstone Banteay Srei temple.
