Upon arrival in Mumbai, you are met and transferred to your iconic hotel.

Explore the Gateway of India, the Prince of Wales Museum and Mani Bhawan, a museum dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. View the Dhobi Ghat, the world’s largest open-air laundry.

Day 3: Mumbai/Udaipur | The Elephanta Caves

Privately cruise Mumbai Harbour to Elephanta Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site to explore its world-renowned rock-hewn temples. Fly to Udaipur and check in to your hotel.

Day 4: Udaipur | Private Cruise to an Island Palace

Visit the City Palace, privately tour the Crystal Gallery in Fateh Prakesh Palace, and then stroll through Sahelion Ki Bari. Embark on a private cruise to Jag Mandir.

Explore the Amber Fort, with its Mughal-style façade, and later, ride an elephant through the countryside. Visit Jantar Mantar and view the nearby Palace of the Winds.

Day 7: Jaipur/Agra | Discovering the Ghost City

Travel to Fatehpur Sikri, a fairy-tale ghost city of delicately carved red sandstone, and then continue to Agra and your luxury hotel, catching a first glimpse of the Taj Mahal from your room.

Day 8: Agra | Visions of the Taj Mahal

Today, visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Agra Fort and the immortal Taj Mahal. Flawless in its proportions and breathtaking in its beauty, the Taj Mahal is a peerless treasure. Pay your first visit when the rising sun lends it a warm pink tint. Continue to the impressive Agra Fort, built of red sandstone and marble. Return to the Taj Mahal as the setting sun bathes it in soft orange light.

Day 9: Jhansi/Panna National Park | Abandoned Palace

Depart Agra via an early morning express train to Jhansi, and then continue overland to Orchha, visiting its abandoned, 17th-century palace. After lunch, continue to Panna National Park and your remote wilderness lodge.

Day 10: Khajuraho | Exotic Temples and Elusive Tigers

Behold the 85 sandstone Hindu and Jain temples of Khajuraho, upon which life in all its aspects — joy, love, divinity, war — is depicted in exquisite, carved-stone detail. After lunch, return to Panna National Park for a rousing afternoon game drive via four-wheel-drive vehicle, perhaps spotting crocodiles or even the elusive Bengal tiger.

Day 11: Panna/Varanasi | Ceremony Beside the Ganges

Fly to Varanasi, a city of more than a thousand Hindu and Buddhist temples and shrines. At dusk, head to the banks of the sacred Ganges River to witness the moving Aarti ceremony.

Day 12: Varanasi | Legacies of Gandhi and Buddha

Visit Banaras Hindu University, the 18th-century Durga Temple and Bharat Mata Temple, dedicated by Mahatma Gandhi to Mother India. Later, explore nearby Sarnath, where Gautama Buddha is said to have given his first sermon.

Day 13: Varanasi/Delhi | Life On the Ghats

Rise early for a private sunrise cruise on the Ganges and view the activity along the ghats, stone steps leading down to the river where the locals and pilgrims alike cleanse themselves, literally and spiritually. Later, fly to Delhi, India’s capital.

Day 14: Delhi | The Old and The New

Visit the great Jama Masjid, the most important mosque in India. Take an exciting rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk, the bustling main street of Old Delhi. Pause for lunch, and then visit New Delhi, including Humayun’s Tomb.

Day 15: Depart Delhi

After breakfast, transfer to the airport and depart.
