Arrive in Santiago and transfer to your hotel. A city tour includes the Cathedral, La Moneda Palace and the Plaza de Armas. Enjoy a visit to Santiago's Palace of Fine Arts. Founded in 1880, it is the oldest museum in Latin America and one of the most important in Chile. Stop in Barrio Brasil, once the residential center of Santiago's well-to-do and now the city's artistic enclave. Afterward, visit San Cristobal Hill for incredible city views.

Drive to picturesque Valparaíso, famous for its labyrinthine hills, covered with colorful old houses and accessible only by a steep climb or funicular railway. The city’s historic quarter was recently named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit Chilean Nobel Prize-winning poet Pablo Neruda’s residence, La Sebastiana. The home — which houses an extensive library — is packed with the eccentric genius’ keepsakes from his many trips abroad. Continue up the coast to Viña del Mar, a popular beach town for locals. On your return trip to Santiago, stop in the Casablanca Valley for a sunset wine tasting and cocktail at Casas del Bosque Winery.

Board a morning flight to Puerto Montt in the Lake District. During an orientation tour of this former German settlement, stop to look for bargains at the Angelmo handicraft market, and watch for the city’s unique architecture of high-pitched roofs and ornate balconies. Continue to Puerto Varas and your hotel. After lunch, visit the town and gaze across the waters of the Llanquihue to the mighty Osorno Volcano. Pause in historic Frutillar to visit the Pioneers Museum, featuring a collection of 19th-century antiques from various immigrant German families around the area. Pause for a snack at the charming Lavanda Casa de Te, an exclusive tea room surrounded by lavender fields.
