Itinerary

Day 1: Cape Town

Arrive in Cape Town, where you are met and transferred to your hotel, ideally located in the historic heart of the city. The remainder of your day is at leisure.

Day 2: Cape Town/Cape Point/Cape Town

Drive along the Atlantic coast and explore the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, home to the rare bontebok. Ride the funicular to the top of Cape Point, where you may see southern right whales in season. Later, visit endangered African penguins at Boulders Beach. Your evening is at leisure.

Day 3: Cape Town/Winelands/Cape Town

Head toward the famous Cape Winelands. Explore the university town of Stellenbosch with your specialist local guide. Pause for an al fresco lunch in the quaint Huguenot village of Franschhoek, followed by a cheese tasting and a glass of wine at a local fromagerie. Continue to a historic estate for a private cellar tour and an opportunity to taste some of the area’s wines. Afterward, drive up a mountain road to visit the Taal Monument, the only monument ever built to immortalize a language (Afrikaans). The evening is at leisure.

Day 4: Cape Town

Visit flat-topped Table Mountain; then walk through the tranquil Company Gardens, passing many of Cape Town’s notable buildings. Continue to the Castle of Good Hope and the Castle Military Museum, including the notorious dungeon. Later, transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
