Day 1: Sunday

You are met in Strasbourg and transferred to the barge, where the crew welcomes you on board with a glass of Champagne. You have time to take a walk or bicycle ride before having dinner on board.

Day 2: Monday

Cruise through the stunning Brumath Forest this morning. After lunch, visit Strasbourg's 12th-century Gothic cathedral and explore the pedestrian area of La Petite France. Later, enjoy a private wine tasting that includes a specialty Alsatian brioche called kouglof at La Cave Historique des Hospices de Strasbourg, dating from the 14th century.

Day 3: Tuesday

After breakfast, cruise to Hochfelden for an afternoon visit to the picturesque village of Wingersheim that includes the "hops region" where you learn about growing this important brewery staple and sample the local beer with expert André Fisher. En route back to the barge, stop for a tasting of tarte flambée, the Alsatian "pizza."

Day 4: Wednesday

Cruise to Saverne to moor at the foot of 18th-century Château de Rohan with its red sandstone façade. Drive into Vosges National Park to visit the mountaintop village of La Petite Pierre. Then tour the outstanding René Lalique collection to see over 500 exceptional examples of Art Nouveau and Art Deco glassware.

Day 5: Thursday

After a walking tour of Saverne that includes the local market, visit Château de Haut-Barr, an 11th-century former bishops' residence. Return to 'Panache' by way of the vineyards of the Route des Grands Crus, followed by a cruise to Lutzelbourg for dinner ashore at the atmospheric Au Soldat d l'An II.

Day 6: Friday

Early this morning, visit a local bakery to watch the pâtissier at work. Continue to Fusion Libre to learn about glassblowing techniques at a workshop before the barge ascends the Arzviller boat “elevator.” This unique lock allows a barge to glide effortlessly up or down the mountainside using a sophisticated system of weights and balances. Enjoy a candlelit lunch while 'Panache' passes through the two Arzviller tunnels en route to Niderviller. In the afternoon, visit Sarrebourg to see Chagall's famous stained glass window depicting the tree of life. Tonight's dinner is a gala farewell hosted by your barge captain.

After breakfast on board, return to Strasbourg.
