Experience an Enriching, People-to-People Educational Exchange in Cuba

There are few countries as fascinating or enigmatic as Cuba. Now you can be one of the first to explore a place that was long off-limits to U.S. residents. Our local connections and cultivated expertise unveil this dynamic, culturally rich destination during an eye-opening educational exchange program filled with intimate, authentic, one-on-one interactions with Cuban residents.

You will be traveling under a specific license issued by the U.S. Treasury Department to A&K for people-to-people educational exchanges. Alongside your Cuban guide, you will meet, talk and interact with Cuban people from all walks of life to gain insight into the daily lives of residents. Join a local architect for an educational walk through Havana, discussing its historic styles and contemporary restoration efforts, and experience a salsa lesson and one-on-one talk with a Cuban salsa instructor. During this enriching exchange, you also play a few innings with Cuban baseball players; discuss the history of U.S.-Cuba relations with a Foreign Service scholar; talk with owners in a privately owned paladar (family-run restaurant); and visit an artist’s studio to learn how it’s transforming the community, all the while being deeply rewarded by meaningful, informative time spent with our island neighbors.

Whether you’re meeting with the owner of an antique print shop; interacting with locals in a small fishing community; riding a vintage steam train in Remedios; or witnessing Cuba’s sustainability efforts alongside community members at pioneering eco-village, Las Terrazas - a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve - immersive, enlightening experiences are at every turn.

Throughout your people-to-people educational exchange to Cuba, you will participate in a full schedule of activities that promote meaningful interaction with the Cuban people, and A&K will connect you with the people and experiences that reveal the true fiber of this magical, historic and culturally rich country.
