Itinerary

Day 1: Melbourne | Admiring the Marvelous City

Upon arrival in Melbourne, you are met and transferred to your hotel. Settle in and then embark on a half-day tour of city landmarks, such as the Block Arcade, where you stop at Haigh’s Chocolates for a tasting. Later, join your fellow guests and Tour Director for a welcome dinner on board the Colonial Tramcar restaurant.

Day 2: Thomson Family Farm | From Sheep to Kangaroos

Travel to the Thomson family farm to learn about sheep-shearing, one of Australia’s most important industries. Get to know your hosts at the woolshed, meeting Fergie the farm dog and learning about life on the land in rural Australia, while you sip a cup of piping hot tea. Continue to the stockyards to watch dogs herd a “mob” of sheep, and witness an expert shearing demonstration. After lunch featuring local produce and wine at a nearby organic farm, tour the property, taking in the native flora and fauna and keeping watch for kangaroos. Return to Melbourne.

Day 3: Yarra Valley | Ride the Rails

Drive through beautiful rural countryside to the magnificent Dandenong Ranges. Take a ride on “Puffing Billy,” a mountain steam train on a historic narrow-gauge railway.

Day 4: Cairns/Port Douglas | White Sands and Sun

Fly to Cairns for a scenic drive along the coast to Port Douglas, where welcome cocktails await. Splash in the pool or stroll the sunny white sands beside the Pacific, and then enjoy a poolside Aussie barbecue.

Day 5: Great Barrier Reef | Underwater Wonderland

Board swift, modern catamaran ‘Quicksilver’ and cruise to Agincourt Reef. Its renowned, sparkling clear water and vibrant coral formations lie within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Enjoy a buffet lunch and then sunbathe or view the reef up close from an underwater observatory.

Day 6: Daintree Exploration | River and Rainforest

Cruise Daintree River to seek the vivid Ulysses butterfly in the canopy above and sight crocodiles basking on its muddy banks. Take a guided walk into the rainforest, viewing myriad plants and wildlife, perhaps even the endangered southern cassowary bird. Walk magical Thornton Beach, while your guide highlights its unique ecosystem, and eat lunch deep in the serene embrace of the rainforest. Visit the Botanical Ark and sample delicious tropical fruits.

Day 7: Sydney | The Rocks

Fly to Sydney and transfer to your hotel nestled in The Rocks markets. Rendezvous for dinner at Darling Harbour, and enjoy unrivalled views of Sydney.

Day 8: Sydney | Cycling and Harbour Cruise

Take a bike tour through the streets of Sydney. Cruise Sydney Harbour on a private charter to marvel at its iconic sights. Learn to prepare an authentic Aussie barbecue and then savor it while anchored in a secluded cove.

Day 9: Sydney | Opera House Tour

Privately tour Taronga Zoo to observe iconic Australian animal species such as the koala and platypus. Explore the spectacular Sydney Opera House and enjoy lunch in the Opera Kitchen. Visit stunning Bondi and Coogee beaches. Later, dine privately at The Woods Restaurant.
