Drive to the Mount of Olives for a view of the city overlooking Temple Mount (or Al Haram el-Sharif). Visit the Western Wall and view the El Aksa Mosque. Today you head north on Highway 6 to Acre. One of the world’s oldest seaports and considered perhaps the most important historical port town in Israel, Acre was mentioned as far back as 3,500 years by the Pharaoh Tuthmosis III. Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, Ottoman Turks and a succession of Crusaders occupied the town, destroying, rebuilding and fortifying.
After lunch leave for Sephoris, which was once the Roman capital of the Galilee and a major center of Jewish religious and spiritual life. The impressive ruins and mosaics illustrate the wealth and influence this city once had. Nazareth, the boyhood town of Jesus was a tiny village nearby. From here, continue on to Tiberias and your hotel.

This morning around the Sea of Galilee you discover Biblical echoes as you set off on a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Stop at Capernaum, where you see the ancient synagogue where Jesus taught and St. Peter's house which was later converted into a church.
From here, you drive up to the Golan Heights, a rocky plateau overlooking the Sea of Galilee. Here you can gaze over into Lebanon and Syria to the lush Tel Dan, once the northernmost city of ancient Kingdom of Israel and home to the Tribe of Dan.
You also make a stop at Banias, one of the sources of the River Jordan at the foot of Mt. Hermon. Here you see the archaeological remains of this sacred place that span the Pagan, Jewish, Roman, Byzantine and Muslim eras.
