Each unit is built on a wooden platform to catch the cooling breezes and has a deck on the flat rooftop, where you may sleep under the brilliant stars. World-famous Sossusvlei is an enormous clay pan flanked by the sand dunes that stand out starkly against the blue sky. Return to the lodge for lunch and then perhaps cool off with a refreshing dip in the pool, or indulge in an afternoon siesta before afternoon tea. Nature drives, walks and eco-sensitive ATV rides are also on offer.
Kulala Desert Lodge | Meals: B L DThis morning, bid farewell to Sossusvlei as you drive to the airstrip for your flight to Damaraland Camp. The camp is situated in the Huab River valley with sensational views of the surrounding desert plains, ancient valleys and soaring peaks of the Brandberg Mountains. Owned and largely run by the local community, Damaraland Camp consists of 10 adobe-styled thatched huts, each raised on individual wooden decking which extends to form a large viewing deck overlooking the surrounding landscape. The afternoon is yours to enjoy the game viewing activities on offer.
Damaraland Camp | Meals: B L DYour day at Damaraland Camp features morning and afternoon game drives and walks through the Huab River system, searching for desert-adapted elephants as well as gemsboks, greater kudus, springboks and occasionally lions, cheetahs and black rhinos.
Damaraland Camp | Meals: B L DThis morning after breakfast, fly to Kamanjab to visit the Otjikandero Himba village, situated on a family farm. Your guided visit grants you in-depth insight into the life and ways of the Himba, the last traditional tribe in Namibia — not to mention an amazing photographic opportunity. Witness Himba rituals such as the milking ceremony and smoke bath, and learn about their beliefs regarding the holy fire, their ancestors and herbal medicine. Following your visit, return to camp for the rest of the day at leisure.
Damaraland Camp | Meals: B L DThis morning, fly to Little Ongava, your next safari camp, located in the private Ongava Game Reserve which borders the Etosha National Park. Etosha National Park is Namibia's premier wildlife destination and one of Africa's largest game reserves. Large herds of wildlife teem around the waterholes and the endless plains offer breathtaking vistas. With only three spacious, luxurious and private units, Little Ongava offers an intimate and exclusive safari experience in this beautiful region. Each unit features its own plunge pool, a sala, and an en suite bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers. The afternoon is at leisure to enjoy the activity on offer.
Little Ongava | Meals: B L DDuring your stay at Little Ongava, enjoy day and night wildlife viewing drives, visiting hides that overlook waterholes and walks with experienced guides. A hide at the camp waterhole provides superb photographic opportunities. The Ongava Game Reserve features all the characteristic wildlife of the area, with both desert-adapted black and white rhinos to be seen as well as lions. A game drive into the easily accessible Okakuejo area of Etosha National Park are rewarded with sightings of lions, elephants, gemsboks, springboks, red hartebeest and white and black rhinos.
