Spend a night on the idyllic island of Hvar, known for its sunny days and medieval buildings dating from centuries of Venetian rule

Visit the fishing town of Ston and sample its famous oysters
Arrive in Split after an overnight flight. You are met and driven to your resort hotel, nestled on the beach front in Podstrana. The balance of your day is at leisure to relax or enjoy the hotel’s facilities: beautiful landscaped gardens, a casino, night club, tennis courts, and indoor and outdoor swimming pools, as well as a spa and wellness center.
Le Méridien LavThis morning, meet your local guide for a sightseeing tour of the lively seaport of Split that takes you to the imposing Palace of Diocletian. Built in the third century on the shores of the Adriatic, this looming building with its cavernous interior is a unique remnant of the great days of the Empire. The octagonal St. Dominus Cathedral stands next door. Stroll through Split’s Old Town and the palm-lined harbor-front promenade. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
Le Méridien Lav | Meals: BThis morning, cruise by ferry along the stunning Dalmatian coast to picturesque Hvar, whose Venetian palaces are hidden among the narrow backstreets of the town. Croatia’s longest island, Hvar is lush and green, filled with lavender, pines and aromatic Mediterranean flora. On arrival, join your local guide for a walking tour of the town’s small historical center, built by the Venetian Doges. Best known for its medieval buildings that are the legacy of four centuries of Venetian rule, it is also the site of the oldest municipal theater in Europe, which opened in 1612. View the gleaming white limestone walls of the medieval Spanjol Fortress, perched high on a hill overlooking the town. Continue to the Cathedral and the Arsenal. You might want to walk along Hvar’s stone-paved harbor front and stop in one of the many cafés, or choose a restaurant located in the Venetian piazza or yacht harbor for views across the sparkling Adriatic Sea. Afterward, return to your contemporary hotel, located on Hvar’s beautiful waterfront, where the remainder of the evening is at leisure.
Adriana Hvar Marina Hotel & Spa | Meals: BDepart Hvar by public ferry to the mainland and then head south to Dubrovnik, nicknamed the “Pearl of the Adriatic.” As you travel along the coast, stop en route in the fishing town of Ston on the Peljesac Peninsula. Historic Ston has beautiful examples of medieval architecture and fortified walls, as well as numerous cultural and historical monuments. The town is also known for its oysters and salt works. You may wish to have lunch here in a typical Dalmatian restaurant, and this might be a good time to sample the famous mollusks. On arrival in Dubrovnik, check in to your hotel, which overlooks the old city. The remainder of today is at leisure to begin your explorations of what is considered to be the most beautiful city in Croatia. During the Middle Ages, Dubrovnik was a center of maritime trade, and its wealth and skill in diplomacy enabled it to become the only Adriatic city-state to rival Venice. Military conflicts in the early 1990s heavily damaged the old city, but with the help of foreign aid, Croatian authorities have restored Dubrovnik to its former glory, earning it status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Hotel Excelsior | Meals: BEmbark on a walking tour of Dubrovnik with your local guide to see the Franciscan and Dominican Monasteries, the Rector’s Palace and Dubrovnik Cathedral.
