Day 2

After a leisurely morning cruise, arrive in Passau. Known as the "City of Three Rivers," Passau is situated where the Danube meets the Rivers Inn & Ilz. A shining example of Baroque architecture, the town's St. Stephen’s Cathedral is home to one of the world's largest cathedral organs, with more than 17,000 pipes. 'River Cloud II' then cruises a lovely route downstream toward Melk.

Day 3

This morning, visit magnificent Melk Abbey, one of the world's most famous monastic sites. Built in the early 18th century, it is situated atop a rocky cliff that affords splendid views. Black-robed Benedictine monks still stroll past the marble sculptures and frescoed walls. The resplendent church and 12-room library house celebrated works of art and historical manuscripts. A lunchtime cruise through the lovely Wachau Valley passes vineyards and picturesque villages. In the afternoon, 'River Cloud II' calls at Krems, a 1,000-year-old Austrian jewel. The charming old center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is dotted with many shops and cafés.

Day 4

In Vienna today, you may visit Gothic St. Stephen's Cathedral, containing a wealth of art treasures, including a winged altar dating from the 15th century. More famous composers have lived in Vienna than any other city, including Beethoven, Haydn, Mozart, Schubert and Strauss. In this "city of music," live classical performances take place almost every evening.

Day 5

Take in the lingering magnificence of the Habsburg empire today. The family's Imperial Palace was inhabited until 1918, and you may visit their chapel and private apartments. The family’s impressive summer residence at Schönbrunn is a Baroque masterpiece with extensive grounds. This evening affords another opportunity to attend a concert or other performance.
