Travel Agents Choose A&K as "Best Tour Operator - Africa"
Abercrombie & Kent received the Readers' Choice Award for "Best Tour Operator Africa " from Recommend, a leading travel trade publication, for the 12th consecutive year. This comes just weeks after the company was recognized as "Africa's Leading Luxury Tour Operator" at the World Travel Awards and "Best Africa Tour Operator" at the TravelAge West WAVE Awards.
"I am proud and honored that Abercrombie & Kent has been singled out by our travel agent partners for outstanding service over the past 12 months," said Scott Wiseman, President of Abercrombie & Kent USA. "We have made a very significant investment in destination training for our staff and it is gratifying to see the results."
Africa is the original home of Abercrombie & Kent. In 1962 A&K's first tented safaris showed guests the wonders of African wildlife close-up, while providing a standard of hospitality then unheard of in the bush. Since then, A&K has grown with offices from Cairo to Cape Town, all committed to one immutable standard: "simply the best."
A&K & Choice. "One size fits all"? Not with A&K. Everyone has a personal travel style, and A&K offers a choice of itineraries to match. Choose from all-inclusive luxury Connoisseurs programs or Discovery itineraries that offer exceptional value, along with added flexibility and active options. Extreme Adventures include unusual accommodations in remote and ordinarily quite inaccessible destinations in Africa.
Regardless of the level of luxury selected, peace of mind comes from having everything professionally pre-arranged and reserved, with an English-speaking driver/guide waiting at each ship, train or plane. A&K's professional guides are intelligent, caring and inspiring companions, with an intimate knowledge of local flora and fauna, geography and animal behaviour. Drivers are trained in A&K's own schools. In East Africa and Botswana, A&K uses its own private fleet of custom built four-wheel-drive vehicles that offer more space and comfort, with better sightlines than standard models or mini-buses.
Hotels, camps and lodges are always the best available – often exclusive to A&K. Overnights include small, preferred properties like Sanctuary Chief's Camp and Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero in Botswana featured in the pages of Architectural Digest and on the Conde Nast Traveler "Gold List."
Tailor Made Private Travel has been an Abercrombie & Kent specialty since the company's founding. Many guests combine an active week on safari with a few days relaxing in the Seychelles or on Mauritius, long the secret of savvy British and French travellers. These lush, unspoiled islands are remarkably private, with powdery white sand, turquoise waters and attentive Asian-style service.
Abercrombie & Kent's on-site offices in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Botswana, South Africa and Zambia make it possible for A&K to take travellers beneath the surface, beyond the usual tourist destinations...and away from the safari crowds...into a world that only local people know. Described by the Los Angeles Times as "a highly respected company dedicated to conservation and environmentally intelligent tourism in Africa," Abercrombie & Kent has pioneered the sharing of economic benefits from upscale tourism with indigenous populations, to encourage the preservation and protection of natural habitats. Recognition for its leadership in sustainable tourism has included the Conde Nast Traveler World Savers Award for "Doing It All" and the Travel + Leisure Global Vision Award.
