Marett Taylor Appointed Vice President, Agency Sales, Abercrombie & Kent
Phil Otterson, president of Abercrombie & Kent USA, announced the appointment of Marett Taylor to the position of Vice President, Agency Sales, effective immediately. “In this new role, Marett will be responsible for leading the company’s North American travel agency sales efforts,” he explained. “Her unparalleled knowledge of A&K’s destination management companies will help broaden and strengthen our relationships within the agency community.”
Marett Taylor has worked closely with travel agents for more than 13 years, representing Abercrombie & Kent offices in Southern Africa, East Africa and Europe. “Now, based at the headquarters of A&K USA outside Chicago, I look forward to finding more ways to streamline the process of supporting sales with our consortia and travel agency partners in North America,” said Taylor.
Born in Montana to a British Kenyan mother and American father, Marett Taylor began her “bicultural” life at a young age, shuttling between Montana and Kenya. After graduating summa cum laude from Duke University with a Master’s degree in Environmental Economics, she joined Abercrombie & Kent in 2000 in Southern Africa. She later moved to Nairobi to join A&K East Africa where she spent six years marketing safaris to North American travel agencies. In Nairobi, she became the third generation of women in her family to guide safaris and was certified by the Kenya Professional Safari Guide Association (KPSGA).
In 2006, Marett moved to Cheltenham, England, and joined Abercrombie & Kent Europe as Sales and Marketing Director. She made 12 trips per year to the Americas, educating travel agents about the unique products and services offered by A&K Europe, Italy and Russia.
She relocated to New York in 2008 to develop new revenue streams for A&K’s destination management companies in conjunction with North American travel agencies and consortia.
With her background in wildlife biology and environmental economics, she has a strong interest in conservation and community development and works closely with Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy, the company’s philanthropic division.
