Abercrombie & Kent Expands Marco Polo Club Journeys with 12 New Adventures
Four Itineraries Celebrate India; Featuring a Chairman’s Gala hosted by Geoffrey Kent
For years Abercrombie & Kent’s Marco Polo Club (MPC) Journeys have introduced experienced travellers to emerging destinations – and presented familiar places in completely new ways – often through VIP access to unusual local festivals and events. A highlight in 2015 is four new itineraries that offer distinctly different ways to explore India, ending in Hyderabad with a gala Chairman’s Event hosted by Geoffrey Kent, an extravagant three-day festival (November 7-10, 2015) of gourmet dining, local entertainment and five-star hospitality at the legendary Taj Falaknuma Palace.
“India is one of the most consistently rewarding places to visit in the world and I can think of no better way to celebrate it than in a manner worthy of the maharajahs of old,” says Kent. “Only with the expertise of the dedicated local staff in A&K’s offices throughout India could we arrange for four groups to explore different facets of the country, and then meet for this singular event – unlike anything we have done before.”
Guests are welcomed to Hyderabad by 19th-century carriages painted in arabesques of gold and showered with rose petals, a traditional greeting for honored guests. Stroll through a private bazaar; shop for pearls and perfume, learn the art of turban-tying and sari-wrapping or sit for a personalized astrology reading. “Design Your Day” options include a cooking lesson to prepare traditional Hyderabadi dishes; afternoon tea with clothing designer Vinita Pittie at her 250-year-old residence; a guided walk to stunning rock formations; a lesson from a master in calligraphy or the chance to indulge and unwind at the palace’s spa. Every evening is an elaborate affair, from an exclusive Sufi Kathak dance performance over cocktails with Geoffrey Kent, to a gathering around the world’s largest dining table for a spectacular Bollywood-themed banquet.
The Gala Chairman’s Event with Geoffrey Kent is included in India by Private Jet and available as an extension to the other Marco Polo Club Journeys through India.
