Fly to Hyderabad, where you are met by your A&K representative and transferred to your royal palace hotel. As you arrive in a 19th-century carriage painted in arabesques of gold, your hosts shower you with rose petals. Hyderabad | Extraordinary Experiences
November 8

Join your A&K Tour Director (in an intimate group of no more than 18 guests) for a tour of Hyderabad that includes the Grand Mosque, the Lad Bazaar and the Salar Jung Museum, which houses one of the largest private art collections in the world. Return to the palace for lunch in the majestic garden, accompanied by live music. Spend the evening at Chowmahalla Palace, former seat of the Asaf Jahi dynasty, where you are welcomed by soldiers and flaming torches. Have cocktails with Geoffrey Kent and partake in a royal feast, complemented by a live marfa band. Afterward, stroll through a private bazaar arrayed just for you; have a henna design painted on your hands; learn the art of turban-tying and sari-wrapping; or sit for a personalized astrology reading.

Hyderabad | In the Footsteps of Royalty

Design your day in Hyderabad from a wealth of options, including:

  • A lesson in preparing biryani, a savory local rice dish, along with other traditional Hyderabadi dishes
  • Afternoon tea with clothing designer Vinita Pittie at her 250-year-old residence
  • An excursion on foot to Hyderabad’s rock formations, sculpted by eons of wind and weather into striking freestanding shapes
  • A lesson in calligraphy from a master of more than 30 years’ experience
  • A chance to unwind at the Jiva Spa on the palace premises, with a full palate of pampering treatments to choose from

This evening, your farewell festivities begin with a fascinating hotel tour guided by the palace’s in-house historian. Afterward, gather around the world’s largest dining table for a spectacular Bollywood-themed banquet. Butlers in traditional dress serve each course of local culinary favorites, with an extravaganza of Indian song and dance unfolding all around you.
