We are currently hiring for this position.


The Travel Consultant is responsible for supporting the sales teams during peak season, phone coverage, and other situations (i.e. unexpected absences, extended PTO, etc).

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Develop and build trusting relationships with clients
• Answer customer phone calls and assist clients with travel requests
• Evaluate pricing received from DMC or Third Party suppliers to ensure value (A&K value and price value)
• Communicate and advocate product and price value in support of successful conversions
• Confirm required services with DMC and Third Party suppliers
• Design custom tailor made itineraries in consultation with guests and Travel Agents
• Manage all financial aspects of booking in Travel Studio according to company guidelines
• Ensure all Travel Studio booking details are complete and accurate in accordance with department guidelines
• Assist guests and Travel Agents with all group escorted programs, pre/post accommodations, upgrades and limited custom tailor made itineraries in combination with the group program
• Maximize conversions by following up on Option Quote and Quote Pending bookings in established timeframe
• Demonstrate competency of destination knowledge
• Meet or exceed established A&K Service standards
• Make recommendations for process, procedure and technology improvements
• Collaborate with Sales Assistant to coordinate all pre and final documents, and assist with guest/TA contact
• Collaborate with internal departments to facilitate booking process and sales
• Assist Guest Relations on post tour issues to ensure guest satisfaction is maintained
• Assist management with special bookings, projects and processes as necessary
• Meet or exceed established sales goals

Education and Experience

• Two plus years of experience as a Travel Consultant selling both Tailor Made and Small Group products required
• High School diploma required

Skill and Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on telephone sales
• Strong geographic, destination, cultural and world affairs knowledge
• Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to multi task
• Intermediate computer skills required (Microsoft Office) and ability to quickly master new technologies
• Excellent knowledge of Travel Studio required
• Good judgment and problem solving skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Act as a positive role model for the team
• Excellent inter-personal skills
• Must be able to read/write/speak in English
• Foreign language skills preferred

Special Requirements

• Evening, weekend and approved overtime may be required
• International travel may be required (and maintain a current passport)
